Based on the title one might assume
the story is about them finding some ancient time machine and some Trumpian characters want to go back in time to change WW 2 probably. It would be ironic if that is the plot considering they appear to have a woman of Guyana heritage as a US government agent in 1969 which was as likely a scenario as people using iphones. So they are changing known history for political reasons and then making a story about villains who want to change known history. I bet orange hair will make an appearance among the villains.

He died on the way to his home planet. I remember reading someone jokingly say he died in Vietnam, which I kind of like the idea but it sounds way too dark even for a series that has Temple of Doom and ya know, Nazis .

Quan was asked on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Variety) if he'd be up for revisiting Short Round with an Indiana Jones spinoff series, and this is what he had to say:
"I love the character of Short Round. He’s funny and courageous and saves Indy’s ass. If Disney or Lucasfilm ever come to me and say, ‘We want to do a Short Round spin-off’, I’m there man! I love that character so much and it would just be incredible to revisit so many years later.”

Spielberg has now revealed that he was “peripherally involved” in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny while speaking with Deadline, and that he backed director James Mangold. “I advocated the fifth movie in favor of hiring James Mangold. I’m going to let him make most of those decisions.”

"I always wanted to do it," Ford shared with Variety of what drew him to the sequel. "I wanted to do the rest of the story to see the end of his career." This new film, though, will finally bring Indiana's journey to a close, with Ford expressing, "It's the last time for me."

Last time he'll be alive more like. Harrison has been spending too much time with people in big head animal zip up costumes on the set of Star Wars movies that he has gone crazy. The reviews will finish him off.

I hope they don’t kill off Indy. That would be too cliche at this point.

I hope they don’t kill off Indy. That would be too cliche at this point. What about if he changes his gender and denounces the name "Indiana" as being insensitive to the land of the hindus?

Appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Ford addressed Dial of Destiny’s de-aging tech (at around the 43-second mark of the above clip), and gave a brief rundown of how it actually works, revealing the way the technique employs old footage of his actual face to wind back the years. Check out what Ford had to say in the space below: "...That is my actual face. At that age. They have this artificial intelligence program. It can go through every foot of film Lucasfilm owns, because I did a bunch of movies for them. They have all this footage, including film that wasn’t printed. They could mine it from where the light is coming from, the expression. But that’s my actual face. I put little dots on my face and I say the words and they make it. It’s fantastic."

Banderas said he's playing a friend of Indiana Jones, but his part's not very big. Well, I guess he's getting killed off then.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ford addressed what fans of the long-running Indiana Jones movie franchise can look forward to in its latest installment. The acclaimed 80-year-old actor was the subject of several aging quips during the last sequel, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and, initially, the Dial of Destiny script called for more of the same. However, those jokes were entirely removed from the film. "In [Dial of Destiny] there were a lot of old jokes in the script. We took them all out," he said. "There is a moment where he observes himself in this situation and says, 'What the fuck am I doing in here?' But I hate what I call 'talking about the story.' I want to see circumstances in which the audience gets a chance to experience the story, not to be led through the nose with highlights pointed out to them. I'd rather create behavior that is the joke of age rather than talk about it."

Discussing the movie with The Hollywood Reporter, Mangold said: “It reminds the audience of the contrast between a hero in his physical prime and a hero at 70. We’re not relying solely on the audience’s memory of the previous films. It reminds everyone what he’s done, what he’s survived, what he’s accomplished. By showing him in his most hearty and then finding him at 70 in New York City, it produces for the audience a kind of wonderful whiplash of how they’re going to have to readjust and retool their brains for this guy. His past is a live memory for the audience, hanging over a man who is now living with anonymity in a world that no longer cares or recognizes the things he felt so deeply about. You’re left with a multilayered perception of his character, both what he was and what he is, and how the world is different between the first 20 minutes of the movie.”
