I hate creating fan fiction but I’m not sure why they couldn’t have Cersei betray the North first just as zombies attack. I think they ruined this notion in last seasons finale though.
I actually liked the last episode fine but it lessened the more powerful thing for the sake of matching up with the TV title.

Woah....Last I remember seeing a thread started by you was in 2015.
I kind of agree with you though it depends on how people relate to the show. For some, it was mainly about politics and so it is fine if they are making the actual game of thrones happen at last. But there are also people who feel the whole of Jon's plot and all of Stannis/Meli plot was about defending humanity from the dreadful long night. They even made you believe that in the first scene.

Or...they should’ve structured it so season 7 ended with the Long Night, and now you have 6 episodes to deal with the scraps of mankind fighting for the throne again.
The problem is that these characters have literally survived the apocalypse...and we saw how ridiculously difficult they had it. So how can any of them die now that they made it through that? can Brienne die in a battle with random golden companymen #6 and have it be satisfying? Not after that last episode.

A bit of this feeling has downed on us because how they botched up the killing of NK. The NK should have had a one on one fight with Jon. And why was Jon shown fighting a stupid dragon for so long. It's a feeling that can't go off. They seriously fucked it up.
Perhaps NK was shit scared of Jon because he saw how Jon destroyed his commander at Hardhome with just one blow.

THIS. The BIG threat was always the NK/Others... It was built up for years as "The Bigger Picture": "What does it matter who sits on the throne when everybody is dead" Cersei needed to feel the wrath for ignoring the threat... it needed to swim up and bite her in the ass... but, hell, as it stands: She was rewarded.

The Long Night was the bigger issue. Even if it lasted for a year it would be more disastrous than who gets the Throne. The actual character outcomes wouldn’t change. If the ridiculous Jon Snow as the chosen one plot line was to be it would be regardless of the primary story. The show blended the legends such as the prince that was promised with the iron throne anyway. The story should be about the end of the Iron Throne which is why I don’t speculate on it as I will be greatly disappointed if someone rules in King’s Landing in any way resembling the goals of the first seasons. I would have been fine with the last episode being the finale (OK lighten up the visuals a little) because now all that’s worth looking forward to is the sheer awesomeness of the next battle which I have no doubt will be legendary even if I don’t care what they’re fighting for anymore.

I think they wasted a lot of time in season 6 that could have better served one if these plots. It seems so trivial that Jaime is having issues choosing between boinking his sister and Brienne.

The last episode was great...loved the battle and it will forever be one of my favorite episodes of the show. But yeah...looking back on it, it would have been better to have the army of the dead last a little longer and head toward Cersei and let her feel their wrath just a bit and then have the entire thing end. As it stands now, Cersei got exactly what she wanted...the dead have been beaten but at the cost of weakening the Northern army. That kind of sucks to once again see her get what she wanted.

Even though I've always been a hundred times more interested in the politics than the fighting zombies, it does feel like they contradicted 7 seasons by brushing them aside like that.

That stupidly cartoonish resolution looked like a middle-finger. I always expected the Night King to be dealt with by mid-season, but not this way. Maybe the "millennial" are being told to buy figurines and shut up. But of course, those who keep bleating that he was the main thing are deeply beside the point.
And no one will prevent me from celebrating.

Look at this piece of shit, all hateful about those who don't share his stupid gullibility. It sounds like the green fucks who demand measures against those who refuse to fall for the fable of man-made global warming. The scum needs to be told what it is. it must be told to shut up or better, to fuck off and die.

I found the quick end to the looooooooooong awaited war very unsatisfying. The battle plan was a joke - send the Dothraki to the enemy so they can get slaughtered??? Jon and Dany and the dragons were wasted flying around achieving nothing. Whatever happens next is going to be a let down. I don't really care if Cersei gets killed or not (I like her) and whoever sits on the throne in the end will be anti-climactic.

I don't really care if Cersei gets killed or not (I like her) and whoever sits on the throne in the end will be anti-climactic. I didn;t think it was a quick end as much as people had a different expectation of what the NK does. I said somewhere else that NK is akin to Sauron in that, while he is formidable on his own, his real strength is in what he controls. There would never be a time one could goad him into one on one combat. I think of him as the queen bee in a hive. IMO, the battle with him started when he broke the fire moat or maybe the dragon battle (Seriously why do people forget that. The dragons were far from doing nothing this episode) and it was supposed to be about how he had too many tools at his disposal to be stopped. I would be OK with this being the actual finale just not the hiccup to the finale.

To clear this up, I don;t want people to think think this episode was lacking in regards to what it accomplishes. What it accomplishes is finale worthy already assuming some of the people that had to be left alive for the human fights and such are now dead or have completed arcs.
Dragons fighting (Although the finale should have had another one dying) The Dothraki decimated The Unsullied decimated Arya being awesome (Seriously, that would have been the greatest way to end this show. Although rumor has it that Jon cleared the way for Arya, I would be OK with that outcome too)
You take all of that and flesh it out to the bigger picture of Westeros, with the politics settled or needing to be immediately reset upon possible deaths, the changes would make it even weightier as the combined forces of Westeros would see far more loss/suspense. I also think winter actually happening somewhere other than Winterfell would be visually striking.
Dany's prophecy led me to believe it would arrive in King's Landing and it was such cool imaging, I hoped that was where it would go down with Winterfell already in ruins. Of course all of that would have been 3 times more expensive and if there's one thing this season is telling me is that budgets do matter on this show.

Perhaps NK was shit scared of Jon because he saw how Jon destroyed his commander at Hardhome with just one blow. That would have been soooo predictable though. I like the idea someone other than Jon defeated the Night King. Jon isn't the only "hero" in the story - it's important to let other characters have a moment too. Jon already failed to get the NK in the air and on the ground with the NK easily batting away his attempts. It's almost like the Night King was already aware of anything Jon attempted to do (I think it's no coincidence the NK suddenly came to Hardhome just right after Jon successfully got the Wildlings to make peace and rally to his cause). The person to kill him needed to be someone who he wasn't suspecting and could have that element of surprise to his/her advantage. Like you stated, Jon has already defeated a White Walker at Hardhome. I think that fact would have taken away from the victory had he been the one to do it - kind of how it would have been the same if Sam had done it. It was also nice how they used the foreshadowing from season 7 where Bran gave Arya the dagger she would eventually use to thrust into the Night King. I would say it wasn't just Arya who defeated the Night King too. She may have given the final blow, but Jon, Theon, and Dany unknowingly helped distract the NK from obtaining his goal of killing Bran. If they each hadn't helped in their own ways, the Night King would have brought his sword down on Bran with one swift blow. There's no telling what that act would have been on Westeros, but I imagine it wouldn't be anything good!

But in the other thread I proposed how to make it unpredictable. Jon would have had a sword fight and gotten disarmed by NK after a few exchanges. Just when he was about to get stabbed, Arya would have stabbed NK from behind (she is an assassin and that would have been OK). It would also have mirrored how Ned was saved by Howland Reed. This would have been lot more satisfying and also given a good reason for NK to die. Not being attentive because he was fighting Jon. But currently they are making meme on him & all his commanders being totally stupid.
