No one cares about the story anymore. We just know that’s its being made and we need to see how the train wreck ends out of a morbid curiosity.

I don't need any closure, and I don't need to give Kathleen Kennedy's Lucasfilm any more of my money. And even if I could see IX for free, I still wouldn't bother.

Well, I care about the story. But then again, I'm not a whining child who needs movies to so exactly what I want them to or else they "ruined my childhood".

I'm hesitant, but interested in what TROS has to offer. I was always a fan of TFA. I always thought RJ fucked up the story and otherwise made a fuckhead of himself with TLJ and I always thought Kennedy and crew were retarded for a.) trying to have three separate directors work on the trilogy and b.) including Johnson and Trevorrow in the first place.
But again, I liked what Abrams brought to the franchise with TFA. I see no reason not to give him a chance to salvage a decent story from the wreckage that was TLJ. That Palpatine is part of the story is a welcome signal. Some may dismiss it as fan service. And it is. But at least it indicates that somebody's going to actually try to link this trilogy to the PT and the OT somehow. That was my biggest beef with TLJ all along is that it seemed to shred any rope tying the ST to the OT and PT.

I don't trust JJ to make a decent story. I trust him to create a flashy, fan-service/nearly self-aware 'thing' that will confuse us with nostalgia. I'll give him credit for whatever his involvement was in the TFA trailers...they really had me going.

The trailers made it clear that the movie was going to be one giant nostalgic callback to the OT.

There are a few, small creative trails that have been there all along and weren't demolished entirely by TLJ. We'll see if Abrams picks up one of them.

But also I like to think of this as the sequel that we might have gotten had Abrams just directed TLJ himself. he cant course correct everything, but he cant help but course correct a few things. So it might turn out at least okay.

You couldn't be more wrong. I am not seeing Episode IX in theaters. Maybe if I get curious, I'll read the plot summary on Wikipedia. This is me:

Force of habit. Over two years ago (before The Last Jedi) I created a folder in my bookmarks called "Your Favorites - IMDB v2.0". When I come to this site, I right-click on my favorites folder and select "Open All in Tabs". That opens all the links, including the "Star Wars" board. Well... if you like torturing yourself... I think you're overstating the matter. There are still interesting Star Wars topics, like this one. But IMO the best Star Wars content is now being produced by fans, like this: and this: Unfortunately, IMO, the worst Star Wars content is being produced by the corporation that owns the IP. I didn't see Solo, but I did see the following two minute video and was bored: And IMO the Episode IX trailer is both boring and stupid. Rey can outrun a TIE fighter? Give me a break!

I have to admit, I'm going to see it. I had initially written it off on principle, but it feels like Abrams is trying to distance himself from Rian Johnson's TLJ shitshow. TFA was no masterpiece either, but I'm willing to see if Abrams can at least resuscitate Luke's reputation. I don't know if the story will make any sense but it simply cannot be as terrible as TLJ. That film isn't just a bad SW movie, it's a terrible film, period.
