For those who worship at the feet of studies:
I guess you can stuff that in your pipe and smoke it.

You can't actually smoke shrooms, the flame kills of whatever pscyhoactive qualities they have

Hopefully trade description laws will prevent the use of the word "magic" on any packaging or in any advertising.

This is just another example of science 'catching up' to common knowledge
A big, fat DUH to those scientists.

"even though they change their minds every few years."
They "change their minds" because new, better evidence comes about and they have to revise some of their existing, scientific models. Do you really not understand that concept?

Exactly. So it's stupid to take anything they are currently disseminating as the last word on anything...including what consciousness is.

Uh no, you treat it as what it is, the best information we currently have to work with. We actually have scientific evidence and theories on the brain and the conciousness (MRI scans for instance), there's never been even close to a shred of evidence for your "consciousness is a seperate entity" theory.

There really isn't, jughead. This is absolutely hilarious! Heeeeey is claiming that her anti-intellectual 'alternative scientists' know more about the science of consciousness than regular mainstream tertiary educated working daily in the field ones, adding to the compendium of modern medical advancements with state of the art equipment and co-operation between nations. I don't know how she explains recent advancements such as bypassing damaged nerves in paraplegics and quadriplegics, using thought processes to activate electrical impulses to use prosthetics and re-activating dead pig brains with chemistry and electrical stimuli... all of which show evidence that consciousness resides solely ( pun intended) in the brain.

Where is that electrical stimuli coming from? Its in the brain, making it function, along with the chemical component. Read this you might learn something and stop bothering us with your nonsense. www.medicalsciencenavigator.com/brains-memory-circuits/...in part As you can see by the above, it is a complex process, though pretty well understood by science.

If the pig was dead and brought back to life via electrical impulses, where did the electrical impulses come from? The pig was dead. So where was the electricity?

*crickets* I went shopping. It is a beautiful day here and I went to the Mall and bought two pair of trackidacks/jeggings, had my watch strap adjusted and new battery put in the car remote control and bought a Donner kebab for lunch. Some Americans don't seem to understand time change around the world, it seems. Not surprising from you as you don't understand much at all. Now, about electricity. If you read the article I supplied, you would know that the brain creates its own electrical charges of different types with a multitude of synapse connections and chemical and electrical pathways. This is why the brain operates when alive or not so well when damaged or worse 'brain dead' or (nearly dead like NDEs which are the winding down of those natural processes ) and in the case of the dead pigs, their brains were electrically stimulated in a simulation of those natural impulses which make the brain work when it is alive. The research scientists stimulated the dead pig brains with electricity from an outside source and whilst they re-activated, it can't be said that they were actually 'alive' It was just an amazing experiment to give the scientists more knowledge and proof of the way electricity works in the brain.
