Cody™Yeah, but I suspect many 'professed Christians' are pretty much Christian in name only as they might have a basic belief in God but that's about as far as it goes. I am sure there are many who claim to be Christian but rarely, if ever, pray and regular prayer (regular prayer as in daily prayer) is not optional but required if one is going to grow closer to God and grow in holiness. because without the grace of God, it's simply impossible to grow in holiness and we get that through the Sacraments and regular prayer basically (but even then, it does not happen quickly as it's a life-long struggle as it's not easy growing in holiness since we have to fight our selfish nature etc etc). plus, grace from God gives us the strength to resist sin to and in today's world, with immorality pretty much everywhere, we need God even more to resist it etc. or another way to put it... someone who regularly prays is, in general, more likely to be a bit more ordered than someone who does not regularly pray. (NOTE: when I say 'regularly pray' I mean at least some daily prayer (as no one is so busy to where they can't spare at least some time each day in prayer etc). I strongly recommend praying The Holy Rosary daily). hell, I used to be one of those people like I mentioned above about having a basic belief in God but that was about as far as it went. but, in short, a accident back in 2012 (which cause me quite a bit of suffering), which looking back at it now, was like God hitting me with a two-by-four, which pushed me back to His church and I started praying regularly etc. but even with all of that said... we are all sinners, as no one is perfect. but you get the gist

If I understand it correctly, these sites seems to be saying the Papacy is the antichrist. But most Christians today forget that without the RCC, they'd likely be worshiping some Norse God or be a Muslim or Jew. I guess they have to find something to believe in, because they can't believe in themselves. Yeah, I don't get it. Am I just lacking something or do they have something akin to a mental disorder? I see/feel absolutely NO need for this obsession with "ultimate" reality/truth/meaning/purpose or the need to believe in something greater than myself. I seem to go along quite happily enjoying life day to day, taking what comes and creating meaning and purpose for myself and while relating to others.

lowtacks86 Yeah, I am sure there is some decent stuff out there today. but what some people call art is just trash/depravity (like some of the stuff shown in the OP's video). But if someone thinks there is any "beauty" in some of the stuff shown in the OP's video, they got problems to say the least as depravity, is depravity. there is no beauty in something like that. if someone thinks their is beauty, they got a twisted view on things. "Yeah, I am sure there is some decent stuff out there today. but what some people call art is just trash/depravity (like some of the stuff shown in the OP's video)." "Trash/depravity" is entirely subjective. Do you like the Sistine Chapel? At the time, many religious types in the Catholic church considered it "trashy and depraved" because it featured nude people and even wanted it censored. Do you agree with them on that? "But if someone thinks there is any "beauty" in some of the stuff shown in the OP's video, they got problems to say the least as depravity, is depravity. there is no beauty in something like that. if someone thinks their is beauty, they got a twisted view on things." Oh really? Do you like horror movies? A lot of them are full of things that would be considered ugly, depraved, degradation, etc, but do have a certain aesthetic to them you could describe as "beauty". Just look at this ending shot for Texas Chainsaw Massacre, (skip to 2:55), simply breathtaking:

I wouldn't have Hot Cross Buns, Easter Eggs, birthday cake, Pancake Day, or Christmas presents without it.

If western civilization wants to remain civilized, it needs to dispense with sky-god religions altogether. Civilised is overrated... It just means to adhere to the morals of the Roman empire, which were brutal, grim, and abhorrent. Better to be a barbarian than civilised.

The average barbarian would be ready to give our homegrown fundamentalists a kick in the tuchis, I do believe.

If western civilization wants to remain civilized, it needs to dispense with sky-god religions altogether. Or at least keep it well corralled and tame with a secular govt. People only think Christianity is a religious of peace because secular laws keep them from being violent. Give 'em a theocracy and they'd return to the dark ages of torturing confessions out of heretics and turning them over to the state for execution. I have no confidence in them keeping their word that they're really peaceful.

Funny how the west became better to live in when it got rid of Christianity and became secular. I think the OP forgot to add some words. The full thought is "Why western civilization needs Christianity kept in its place."

lowtacks86 I would disagree with the entirely part as you surely must agree that a line must be drawn somewhere, correct? ; hence, 'entirely subjective' cannot be 100% true otherwise people could go lower-and-lower without it ever being called trash/depraved etc. I see your point. but something like in your example is no where near as bad as some stuff out there. because, like I pretty much mentioned above, you can only go so far before something is just flat out bad (I understand where this line is drawn will vary from person to person though). so I agree with you in a sense that it's subjective to some degree (as I think some people are a little too cautious as some people are probably a little scrupulous). but even with movies you can only go so far with violence/sexual content before it's just trash and I think especially sexual content because it can incite lust in people watching etc where as violence tends not to be as much of a issue in general because people ain't going to go out and harm people etc (although obviously, I would keep the violence stuff away from kids to, to state the obvious). also, another thing... nudity itself is not outright bad either. even though I can see how some people like to be more on the extremely cautious side of things in that regard (like say in your Sistine Chapel example) given it can potentially incite people to lust, which is bad (I realize in today's world, given lust is pretty much everywhere(especially once the internet came along), to worry about something like the Sistine Chapel seems quite laughable now). so I think in the Sistine Chapel example I would not worry about it much, but I can see how some might be at least a little concerned. either way, I would be far more concerned with other things over that like porn etc which is a genuine problem for society. But... it's a movie where as some of that stuff in the video the OP posted is closer to real life. there is at least some difference there in my opinion with the stuff shown in the OP's video (which is trash) vs your random horror movie with violence. or to put it another way... some of the stuff shown in the OP's video is closer to depravity than a typical horror movie would be. I am confident I can claim at least that much. but with your basic example of a horror movie... I see your point there with what you said about them having some appeal to the viewer but I don't think I would describe it as 'beauty' though.
hell, maybe it partially comes back to how high someones standards are as I would not be surprised if those saint level people probably find horror movies to be off-puting etc. so the common person's standards are tarnished to some degree if that's any rough indication of things.
just some thoughts

If western civilization wants to remain civilized, it needs to dispense with sky-god religions altogether. The delusion is what gives them hope. In other words, living for expectations and when one does this, one is always bound to be disappointed. Except in this case, the disappointment will never be realized as the person has to be dead before the "realization" that is was a delusion could ever materialize.
Consider Logan's Run "renewal."
