A respectable number but still a step down from the 2014 film which raked in over $93 million on its opening weekend.

godzilla fights other monsters. Sounds exactly like the plot of previous one.

I'm surprised projections are that low. Looks like a step up from 2014 pic based on trailers and movie posters. Hopefully that number comes up as we get closer.

The 2014 movie did force audiences to wait for Godzilla to show up and Edwards turning the camera away as a gag before each monster fight in the second act got annoying.

I'll probably watch it at the cinema. The posters and trailers look amazing from a visual standpoint. I don't know how good the story will be, but some of those shots almost look like mythological paintings and I don't want to miss out on that.

My biggest complaint about the 2014 movie was how visually dark the scenes with Godzilla were. I saw it in the theater and found myself straing to see what was going on during some of the fight scenes.

The last hour is filled with this ash grey cinematography that's so dark, it very annoying.

Yeah hopefully this new one wont be as dark as the last one, find it so annoying when filmmakers do that to us Like the last one, will watch it in 3D when it comes on SkyTV in 9 months

I have seen dozens of Godzilla (and other Kaiju) movies and none of them have a "good story" except maybe the first one. These movies are not about story, they are about images of giant monsters reeking havoc on humanity and each other. Just like Kung Fu movies are not about "story" they are about great fight choreography. they are not trying to win an Oscar for best screenplay here.

godzilla fights other monsters. Sounds exactly like the plot of previous one. Really? Because there wasn't that much Godzilla fighting other monsters in the last one. There was a whole load of following some incredibly boring soldier guy around, though.
