I agree. This was whole wave of fans who think they have the right to dictate where the story goes is alarming. After TLJ I literally saw people complaining that Lucasfilm didn't pay more attention to Star Wars Reddit pages before making the movie so that they could have worked more fan theories into it.

Yeah make em work to get some input edgewise. Concoct a harebrained scheme to infiltrate Lucasfilm in disguise as the coffee boy. That way, when Abrams, Kennedy and company are suffering writers block, announce "I have an idea" with the persuasive charm and theatrical flamboyance that the fandom is known for.

Yeah, I think the issue is more one of keeping Directors who've clearly never had much of an interest in the series out of the decision making / creative process before worrying too much about any fans! π

I think developing a coherent story that fits inside the universe of the franchise without massive logical inconsistencies or rule breaking is the first guideline they should have followed in the process. Ignore the fans in the creative process, honor them by respecting the source material rather than misinterpreting it.
