Tim Conway was a likable, gifted player with, when given half a chance, excellent timing; and often he knocked it out of the ballpark with a (seeming) effortlessness, like a man mowing the lawn or pruning the bushes. He was masterful.

(BTW, my sense that maybe the lack of much action in this thread may be due to there having been an overexposure of tributes to Mr. Conway on Me TV and elsewhere, leaving people on message boards such as these feeling Tim Conwayed out. I think I understand this correctly. There's no harm in this, but not much more to say, either.)

Growing up, I remember him as bumbling Ensign Parker, the funniest character in McHale's Navy. RIP

One of Conway's funniest later roles was the recurring one he played on Coach as Kenny Montague, the gardener who kills everything he touches. He reprised the role on several episodes, and they were amongst the most hilarious of the series. I've read that a lot of the business he did on these episodes was largely improvised.
