Probably Ozymandias but I would need to reread the book.
It's sitting on my shelf anyway.

I have the luxury of having french has my native and everyday language so I read it in its original version but I hope nothing was lost with the translation. Despite it's length, there is nothing that doesn't make the story move one way or another. There is no "filler" or extremely long detail explanation (I.e. Les Misérables). In my opinion, it's still the most epic story of a man who went from "nothing" to nearly becoming a god.
Back to Watchmen, I don't remember all the lines or details but do remember about the plan and alien invasion used to unite the whole world in a common cause. I understand it would have been too long to explain in the movie so making it a Dr. Manhattan attack was a decent alternative. I still wonder if Rorschach journal ever had an impact afterwards.

None of them, but I recently read an essay in which the author agreed with Adrian—right down to mass-murder. Scary enough, the guy seems to have intended it seriously.

That kind of online edge-lord angsty crap has been around forever. There's different versions like "Vader was right" or "Lecter was right" or "The Joker was right". As I shared on Knowhere, now there's a newer version advocating that Thanos was right.

Well, I’d agree (sorry for not responding before), except that it was supposed to be a literary critic or something who wrote the essay—someone who should (ha ha) know better. I’ll try to find the essay. By the way, I just reread the book and, in response to the OP, will have to say Dan. He and Laurie (and Rorschach’s psychiatrist) are my favorite characters in it. Oh, and also Hollis. On the other hand, I’m intrigued by Rorschach’s morality. He’s actually more human than Adrian or (for much of the book) Jon, in his friendship with Dan and his decision not to keep calling his landlady a whore in front of her children. As was probably the point, it’s difficult to know what to make of him.
