lets go all the way - Sly Fox
Later covered by the metal/goth band Insane Clown Posse.
When I heard that, much like any other cover I've heard, I peed myself laughing when I first heard it.
To answer the question:
Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners. I found out years later that Kevin, the frontman, is from Wednesfield, England. Same hometown as my father.
This was later covered in the mid 90s by Save Ferris.
It's pretty cool to be labeled a one-hit wonder. But, it's even cooler when one is labeled a one-hit wonder, but your one hit....is a cover of someone else's one hit.

Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners. I'm sure it depends where you are from...Dexy's had 8 Top 20 singles in the UK and 4 Top 10 albums. C'mon Eileen was their 2nd UK Number 1! I think I saw a show on MTV years ago about the greatest (US) one hit wonders and they had bands like Faith No More and Crowded House listed. It was a surprise because both had many hits in the UK.

THIS....is very true.
I am a part of a group on facebook with regards to 80s music. When someone asks, "Favourite song by (insert name here)", and it is a one-hit wonder (to me), I would reply with the one hit song. I would then add, "Did they HAVE more than one song?"
I found out later that the group is based in the UK, and I'm in Canada. So, while a UK act may have been classified as a one-hit wonder in Canada, they may have had multiple hits in their home land.
I'm sure they could say the same for one-hit wonders for acts out of Canada. [wink]

Nah! But it is a shame that they are known worldwide mainly for that one song. It's a good song, sure, but the album they released before it is an a corker. They had a great image and attitude before their worldwide success as fiddly, diddly gypsies

Cool! I guess they were more prominently known in their home land.
Remember the show "The Young Ones"? It made its way over to Canada. Even though it aired very late at night, they still edited the crap out of it to air here. They would have a musical guest. In one of the episodes, Dexy's Midnight Runners played. And, the song they played was not Come On Eileen.
As well, a friend of mine told me about this.
Back on a Saturday night, one of the local radio stations would have a segment called "The Milk Crate 80s" - likely because an album could fit into a milk crate with ease.
One night, the DJ came on, and said, "Here's a song by Dexy's Midnight Runners - and it's NOT Come On Eileen!"
