It was Rachelcarson1953 who brought that up; you stupid bastard, not I. You're the one who posted it without giving her credit. I am not psychic. I've seen my parents marriage license. Somewhere a girl is being raped right now, but the OP has to wait for a pastor to do it before he can start one of his brilliant threads. This is a religion forum. If this were a law-and-order forum, I would have told you about a high school classmate who was raped by her policeman step father at the age of 12. Pastors/priests/elders pass themselves off as holier-than-thou. They consider themselves to be emissaries of God. Apparently, so do you. You don't want to hear anything that detracts from the pedestal upon which you watch them with rose-colored glasses. While the vast majority are upstanding citizens, the percentage that are scumbags appears higher than those of equal stature in society.

By grace he can be forgiven eternally for sure. That is a free gift to everybody that accepts it regarding sin. Crimes though are a different story. His crime is his responsibility alone and he should have been sentenced accordingly.

But to think that the god you believe in, will forgive the man who harmed you for so long... This is one of the conundrums that steered me towards agnostic atheism.

But to think that the god you believe in, will forgive the man who harmed you for so long... This is one of the conundrums that steered me towards agnostic atheism. From our perspective in this life that is a fair question. When a believer dies they will receive a glorified resurrected body. They will not bring their sin nature with them. How then is this fair...? Maybe to us it isn't. The Bible tells us that His judgements are righteous and true. So the full penalty for all sin is covered by the finished work of the cross... When God the Father sees us He sees us Robed in the righteousness of God the Son who lived a perfect life in our place. By the power of God the Holy Spirit we are pointed to Jesus the savior... God reveals Himself to us in different ways as we need because He meets us where we are. Ultimately though it is the Father heart of God that most closely addresses your question. I remember when I was younger and Ted Bundy was being executed. Nobody was too sad to see him person go (some opposed the penalty but he was well hated for sure). I remember though his mother still stood by him and loved him. Why? Because a parent will want to love their child in most cases... So too with our heavenly Father- but better than Bundy's mom we also have a transformation made available to us by our Heavenly father through Christ. As to whether the little girl and how she would feel about him being forgiven... I hope one day she can forgive him too. Forgiveness doesn't mean we approve of the act or acts... far from it. jesus forgave people of sin all the time and then like with the woman at the well he said to go and sin no more. He warned against the dangers of sin in places like Mark ch 7. I am fortunate. I was never violated in youth like this young person and so many others. I did lose my mother when i was young because a man came into her life and beat her for four years until she ended her own life to get away. What children endure is far worse and i do not submit that information to claim otherwise. I submit it to say that while it took years and while I believe the man who never even went to jail for his violence should still be locked up... I did and do forgive him. Eternally he is a child that the Father wants home in Heaven and who Christ thought of specifically on the cross (just like you and me). I learned over time that it is true that when you don't forgive - when I don't forgive - generally the people we hold these grudges against are out living their lives giving our anger not a second thought. We twist and turn and seeth and they go to the concert and have a great meal... We drink the poison and wait for the other person to die. Crimes need to be handled by the courts. Sin was fully covered on the cross... Finding peace in our own hearts and moving forward is hard but it is essential. I certainly hope that the little girl has great support to guide her in ways of peace and power and forgiveness... great question though - I appreciate you asking...
