This show will be about an out of shape taxi driver and his wife, his daughter, and his son in law.
The cab driver will be a bit stereotypical conservative and apparently an uneducated bigot. His wife is very nice, but not very bright. His daughter will try to make peace between the driver and his liberal son in law, who lives with them in the driver's house.
And he'll make up mean nicknames, like "Dingbat" for his wife, and "Meathead" for his son in law.

Eddie (sometimes called Fast or Slow Eddie) is forever putting on bets on anything , trying for the big score at his local Sports betting bar , which he secretly visits on Friday , to be with his other buddies there . But they're not very good at choices together , and generally the evening ends in rounds of beer and shots , about how close they came to the big win .
Fast Eddie likes to talk to his taxi customers , and is always giving out-of-touch conservative advice to them , which either infuriates them , derails their day , or sends them into a downward spiral of depression . The Supervisor at the Taxi Company is always getting lots of angry customers complaining about him .

You better believe that Danny Truck is innocent and Miller is after him for no reason!" Meathead: You mean Donald Trump and Mueller? Cabbie: Whatever. Two very effeminate acting gay black men as husband and husband move in next door. Hilarity ensues. And then we will have a very dramatic episode where a gunman shoots up the church where Dingbat goes and makes Cabbie rethink his stance on guns.

Ya, sounds a lot better than my dumbass ideas. It was your post , mstreepsucks , that sparked my post on this thread . I liked drystyx's idea for a sitcom about a taxi driver and his family . Was a great idea (similar to King of Queens or Everybody Loves Raymond) , but a little dry . And of course you have the great film , Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese , with Robert De Niro as an emasculated veteran/taxi driver going crazy . And there was a popular tv series , Taxi around early 1980 , which was mainly based out of the depot , but a very good ensemble cast . Just to have a sitcom about a taxi driver before a studio audience seemed too basic to me . You have such a good character here , a shambolic embittered opinionated conservative who believes his understanding of life is right and is determined to make right his customers misconceived viewpoints in a confused crowded city . The quieter times of his life are at home , where he and his family are trying to understand each other through their failing conservative beliefs .

I do think Archie Bunker would be a fitting character for a sit com with today's president.
