Great news Michelle Payne fans, Teresa Palmer fans, horse riding fans and fans of horses in general. The movie about the very first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup (Michelle Payne) is coming out in cinemas on the 26th of September and the trailer has been officially released and you can see it below and there were concerns the movie was going to be delayed 'cause of the controversy with Darren Weir and the charges he is facing but that thankfully is not the case and 'Ride Like A Girl' is still coming out this year!! I have been looking forward to seeing this movie as somebody who loves the four and grew up with horses and I am unsure if it will be released in America but a lot of people are saying it is going to be the big hit of the year here in Australia!!

Ride Like A Girl trailer about Michelle Payne released by Transmission Films

The trailer for Ride Like A Girl, the true story of Ballarat's own Michelle Payne, has landed.

The Transmission Films movie stars Teresa Palmer as Payne who, as a young girl, dreamt of the impossible: winning the Melbourne Cup - horse-racing's toughest two-mile race.

The youngest of 10 children, Michelle is raised by single father Paddy (Sam Neill).

She leaves school at 15 to become a jockey and after early failures she finds her feet, but a family tragedy, followed by her own near fatal horse fall all but ends the dream.

But with the love of her dad and her brother Stevie, Michelle will not give up.

Against all the medical advice, and the protests of her siblings, she rides on, and meets the Prince of Penzance.

Together they overcome impossible odds for a shot at the dream: a ride in the 2015 Melbourne Cup, at odds of 100 to 1. The rest is history.

It remains unclear how the Darren Weir raids impacted the film in post-production.

Ride Like A Girl, directed by Oscar-nominated Australian actor Rachel Griffiths, will be released on September 26.

Ride Like A Girl, the film that tracks Michelle Payne becoming the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup, will premiere in Melbourne on the 8th of September.

Ride Like a Girl to raise money for Young RDA

Young Riding for the Disabled (RDA) are holding a fundraiser at the Southern Cross Cinema for a pre-screening of the Aussie movie 'Ride Like a Girl'.

Riding for the Disabled are inviting locals to join them at the pre-screening event that tells the story of jockey Michelle Payne, the first woman to ride the winner of the Melbourne Cup.

Starring Theresa Palmer and Sam Neill the movie follows Michelle's life and how she became the best female jockey in the country.

The fundraiser will be held at the Southern Cross Cinema on September 19 with the movie starting at 6pm.

Tickets are available at the Southern Cross Cinema daily between 9am and 3pm.

Ticket prices:

Adults - $20

Seniors - $15

Children (5-16 years) - $15

Family (2 adults and 2 children) - $60

Tickets include the movie, light refreshments and finger food.

There will also be a Fashions on the Field Hat Parade to be judged by a mystery judge as well as tickets available for a fantastic raffle.

YYYAAAAAYYYYY!!! 'Ride Like A Girl' has taken the number one position at the box office here in Australia!!! After we saw it with my nieces on the weekend I can say Teresa Palmer does a wonderful job of playing Michelle Payne and the movie does justice to our very first female Melbourne Cup winner. While it wasn't my favourite movie of 2019 it is easily in my Top 3 and I think it is the best Australian movie we have had since 'Oddball' and would highly recommend it to fans of Michelle Payne, Teresa Palmer and Horse racing.

Ride Like a Girl takes the No.1 spot at the Box Office on opening weekend

Rachel Griffiths’ directorial debut Ride Like a Girl has topped the Box Office on its opening weekend in Australian cinemas.

Starring Teresa Palmer, the film tells the incredible true story of Michelle Payne, the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup in 2015, at odds of 100-1. At the time, she was the only female in the race and just the fourth woman to ever ride in the Melbourne Cup.

Opening at number 1 on Thursday, the film is continuing its race towards towards the record books, currently on track to become the highest grossing Australian film of 2019.

The weekend takings were $1,684,858 with a cumulative total of $2,377,731.

Sounds like the kind of 'feel good' sports biopic that Americans eat up. Nice to hear Palmer's got another winner under her belt. They should really offer her the role of Supergirl or something by now.
