The inner city of New York actually DID look like this...
It's absolutely unconscionable that this was ever allowed to happen, especially in a country, and city, as prosperous as these.

People used to have fondue parties. Invite your enemies over to dip pieces of bread into scalding hot melted cheese and sit back and watch them burn all the flesh off inside of their mouths.

I think there was a lot more sex being had then than now. Maybe hot cheese was the way to go?

And then there was that guy who became president without being elected and fell down stairs a lot.

And then there was that guy who became president without being elected and fell down stairs a lot. No, Bush junior didn't become president until 2000. Ford didn't get us mired in any unnecessary wars. Funny how no one thought it was "unnecessary" on 9/12. I'm fairly certain no one thought it on Dec 8, 1944, either.

Have we forgotten Bagdad Bob? Saddam Hussein was mainstream Muslim, not a fundie wacko. He kept a lid on the crazees. He would have had ISIS sitting in prison right now, or better yet dead. Baghdad Bob was the Iraqi Information Minister and Hussein's spokesperson. I can see how you could confuse them, but I'm sure it's a common mistake given that Bob has been long forgotten by many. In any case, according the NY Times, troops found several thousand "chemical warheads, shells, and aviation bombs" in Iraq, just as Bob said there were all along. But let's suppose they found nothing. It still wouldn't have been unnecessary given Bob's claims. If someone says they have a bomb and they're going to use it, it wouldn't be wise to assume they're lying and go back to bed.
Most everyone stood behind Bush at first. It was, for the most part, a united front. The general public changed their minds about "staying the course" before vilifying GWB in hindsight. If he was wrong, everyone was wrong. Well, everyone but Baghdad Bob. lol

I did not confuse Baghdad Bob with anybody. He's irrelevant as to whether the U.S. should have invaded a country which was no threat to America's national security. He was Hussein's spokesman, and he was telling everyone they had WMD's. That's not irrelevant to your statement about the war being unnecessary "because Iraq had nukes, right?" What do you think we should have done after 9/11? Just lick our wounds and lock the cockpits? 9/11 created a whole new breed of war that, once again, we did not start. I guess it was unfortunate for Hussein that he was so prominently aligned with what we were (and still are) battling. Maybe he should have just let the UN Inspectors in when they knocked the first time. Also, it probably wouldn't have hurt to tell Bob to STFU. On September 20, 2001, PNAC sent this letter to GWB: "Even if evidence does not link Iraq directly to the attack, any strategy aiming at the eradication of terrorism and its sponsors must include a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power." That letter was publicized the very next day, and still everyone was on board. So what happened?
