20 years old this year. When you first saw it, did you figure out the big twist that Bruce Willis' character was a ghost the whole time, or were you taken by surprise?

I did not see it coming. Perhaps today I would but I was like 10 or 11 when I saw that for the first time so I was not as clever.

I don't remember as that movie is overrated/forgettable in general.

I saw it when I was 7 so I didn't even understand the twist. My parents had to explain it to me after.

I think it's overrated-but-good overall. I didn't see the twist coming and it is clever. However, I've never thought of it to be some great film. It's good, but nothing special.

I had never heard of the movie before, so the ending was very shocking

I heard about it beforehand. My mom spoiled it for me!

No, it was an awesome surprise.
I will say there was one scene where I noticed that Toni Collette's character never spoke to Bruce Willis, which I thought was odd, but fortunately I didn't make the connection.

I knew there was a twist of some sort, but was wrapped up in the movie and wasn't thinking about it. When she dropped the ring chills ran up my spine. I had to watch it again the next day because I was "sure" others had seen and talked to him. Great directing job.

I didn't see it coming at all. I saw it when I was 7 so I didn't even understand the twist. My parents had to explain it to me after. Why did they let you watch it? It's not a kids movie.

I heard about it prior. I don't think I would've seen it coming, & yet I don't think I would've been as invested to feel blown away either.

I realized it as soon as the kid said he was "cold"
I also caught the very similar twist in The Others (2001)

Probably to save money on a babysitter. In fairness, it was PG-13. They wouldn't take me with them to Talented Mr Ripley or Hannibal even though I wanted to see them.

I didn't see it until I was a teenager in 2012, but somehow I had never had it spoiled for me. It definitely took me by surprise.

I went to see it with my mom at 13 not knowing anything about it, not even the "I see dead people" part. I buried my face in Mom's shoulder for the scary parts, and no, I didn't see the twist coming.

I remember figuring it out when he was at the restaurant.
Something about the way she ignores him and then he reaches for the check and she takes it. She's supposed to appear mad at him for being too busy and forgetting their anniversary... But it looked like she was more sad.
Then it hit me, the kid sees dead people, he got shot, she looks like she's mourning their anniversary... Just clicked.
