Well, this blu-ray label called Vinegar Syndrome released Mausoleum a year ago, and I watched it last night. From what I understand previous DVD releases used a damaged print, but this new blu-ray is from the original negative, newly restored and completely uncut. And man, does it look fabulous! Having seen Mausoleum on a fuzzy VHS tape many years ago, I never realized how cool the exploding head scene looked. Mausoleum may be cheesy as hell, completely outrageous (demonic boobies, anyone?), and sometimes lacking in logic, but it is a lot of fun. I especially liked the supremely creepy atmosphere created in the crypt scenes, complete with lots of cobwebs, crawling rats, and a shadowy demonic figure. Some nice camera work, too. As a side note, it's been said that this movie was produced by a former member of the Colombo crime family, likely as a means of laundering money.

Fun and imaginative supernatural horror movie. Bobbie Bresee was killing it back in the '80s.

Watched it for the first time the other week, but it was a scratchy print which was paired with ‘Blood Song’ on the Grindhouse DVD. But looking at the trailer of the cleaned up Vinegar Syndrome print... gotta say it visually pops. Got a real kick out of the scenes with La Wanda Page too. Her line delivery is priceless.
