I'm willing to bet none of the directors or screenwriters mentioned here had even read more than the glance at a Cliff note on Nietzsche. Most people--and yes, even people in the 1930's--have taken the time to examine life and come to conclusions that are similar to those of Nietzsche's. He's just famous for being the first guy to write the shit down on paper.

2001 – A Space Odyssey has Nietzschean themes of cycles ("eternal recurrence") and great men. Great primates too. And of course the famous theme music is Nietzsche by way of Richard Strauss.
