When I did this for Mother's Day, there were some very interesting results! And again, I'll post my favorite at the end, but I'll mention an obvious one - Andy Taylor of Mayberry, Opie's dad (Andy Griffith). I love me some Fred Sanford... Here he is at his most characteristically blunt and hilarious... (This would never fly today...) And it's fitting, too, because my dad and I bond over this show. Neither one of us really liked Archie Bunker that much. For my dad and I, Fred was clearly funnier and more likeable. Plus, Archie Bunker was never an intelligent person. (And he had the nerve to call his wife a 'dingbat') Fred was sly as a fox!

Is that Michael Biehn in "Terminator"? Yes. That is funny. Only three years earlier, he played Lauren Bacall's stalked in "The Fan". It was an enjoyable movie, but also a little bit of a weird movie, too, because you never got the sense that Biehn character was really all that heterosexual, and then compound that with the fact that the object of his sexual obsessions was not really very feminine (I mean Lauren Bacal had sass and James Garner seemed to like her), but really her "Sally" would have appealed much more to older gay men, because of flamboyance and attitude and that Elaine Stritch weariness that LB could exuded from time to time (It was certainly not for her singing voice!) Something was not clicking the right way when they made this little suspense-musical-slasher... I wasn't sure if "Duglass Breen" was a closeted homosxual who might try and charm on LB, or he had somehow convinced himself that he was a stud enough to have attracted this Broadway at the very beginning of decline' Thank God Maureen Stapleton was around to deliver the film's one good performance.

Two that I forgot to include previously... Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) from the TV series Vikings. Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones) from the 1994 movie The Lion King.

I've never seen the show - not even once - but it looks like a fun and very loving dad-son relationship. You don't see fathers this affectionate with their sons hardly ever. This is the way it should be.

I always though Ward Cleaver was humorless and mean! I loved the mom, though.

Richard Watterson, despite his many faults, is a good father.

(Heathcliff Huxtable used to be too, until Bill Cosby was convicted of being a serial rapist. Do you mean Steven Keaton of Family Ties? I'd pick him and Mike Brady.

Phil Dunphy (Modern Family) no contest. Devoted, loving, in touch with his emotions, fun to be around, active, brave, himself, interesting, smart and accomplished, adventurous, engaged in his kids life) and Marshall Eriksem (all of Phill plus lawyer and Big Fudge) from HIMYm too but we didnt get to really see it, so its just a hypothesis. But I think a valid one.

Ned Stark (Sean Bean) from the TV series Game of Thrones. Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni) from the TV series Veronica Mars. I second Ned Stark and Keith Mars, and I add Martin Crane from Frasier.
