Yes - June 15, 1979 Madison Square Garden. I was in the very front row and took pictures. The had a rotating stage and when Squire came around he looked straight at me and held a pose for about 3 seconds. I was too dumbstruck to take the shot. It was the best I have ever heard them play. Some idiots in the audience, though. There were cherry bombs going off occasionally and at one point Howe got hit in the face with a frisbee. He didn't miss a note, in spite of it. In the front row, of course, I got the full effect of the amplifiers. My ears were ringing the next morning.

1. Yes - 1975, Landover, Maryland. I didn't know anything about Yes except the song, 'Roundabout'. I was just taking a girlfriend to a concert. It was the Relayer tour. The show was totally mesmerizing. 2. Neil Young and Crazy Horse - 1997 H.O.R.D.E. Festival, Live Oak, Florida. The coolest thing was the stage faced east and behind them in the far west there was a thunderstorm coming. While they were jamming to 'Like A Hurricane' the sky behind them kept dramatically flashing and lighting up with thunderbolts. It was one of those moments which couldn't be planned.
3. Rush - 1984, Biloxi, Mississippi. The Grace Under Pressure tour. My first Rush concert and the first laser light show I saw.

I saw Rush on the Permanent Waves tour in Allentown, PA. An outdoor venue (The Fairgroud) The album hadn't come out yet. We heard Spirit of Radio and 2112 and Farewell to Kings and Xanadu. Fantastic even though we had never heard the new songs. If I were to describe it, I would call it a cheeful and raucous sound. The nadir of the show was the opening act, Pat Travers, which I found very annoying.

one of the best shows i ever saw was when the cure played 3 and a half hours. WOW They are well known for their long sets. Everytime I've seen them it's been around 3 hours (with the exception of Glastonbury)

Guns N' Roses @ AT&T Park in San Francisco, August 2016.
When it was announced Axl Rose would reunite with original members, Slash and Duff McKagan for the first time since 1993, many groaned and claimed it was nothing more than a cashgrab and would be embarrassing for all involved. I can understand why many would feel that way; towards the end of GN'R's original era (1993-94), they had turned into an overblown circus act with Rose's diva antics, backup singers, horn sections and had none of the edge of their Appetite-era performances. It didn't help matters that by the late 90's and 00's, their name was a punchline due to Axl Rose's insistence on keeping the band's name despite all the original members leaving, the endless delays of his Chinese Democracy project and the final album being a major flop when it was released in Fall 2008.
I'm glad to say their recent Not In This Lifetime Tour dispels all that negativity.
The band started ten minutes early and played for nearly three hours with more energy and focus than most of their performances during the band's 90's heyday. Having Slash and Duff back has certainly revitalized Axl and the newer members all integrated themselves nicely. They played a good portion of their hits along with a few covers. This was no band playing for a paycheck, but simply a group of veteran musicians playing for the sake of playing.
I saw them again at the Oracle Arena in Oakland back in November 2017 and they were great this time too. The only issue was that Axl's voice was drowned out due to the instruments being so loud, but the band played an even longer show (this time for nearly four hours!) and were still enjoying themselves. Glad I got to see them on this tour!
