Are you asking because you really can't see any other way of the good guy saving the day or are you just curious? I'm curious...
But let me set up the scenario for you as it was established in the movie.
Zod had just seen ALL his people die, and any hopes of reviving his people as well, driving him to an irrational rage. He vows right then and there to kill all humans. Later in the fight he vows never to stop. Throughout the fight he shows no willingness to stop or slow down, and collateral damage are obviously not an issue for him. HHe makes it pretty clear that he is not going to stop and that he is going to continue his kill crazy rampage.
Also add this: A) He has all of Supermans own powers, and has military skills which make him an even greater threat. B) There is no access to the phantom zone. C) There is no Kryptonite yet.
So given these, how would you handle it?

Not true if Spider-Man killed someone in a movie you would still get the "NOT MUH SPIDER-MAN!!11@" jerk offs that complained about MOS Superman. I never understood why people are against Superheroes killing. It makes no sense to let a dangerous villain like the Joker or Red Skull live. Especially since they break out of whatever prison or asylum their lock up in and continue their crimes. Take the Joker for example. He constantly breaks out of Arkham Asylum and continues to kill innocent people. Dude should have his throat crushed the first time he was caught. Funnily enough, when Spider-Man killed Electro in TASM2 (Sony might’ve planned on bringing the character back, but as far as Peter and Gwen were concerned, he died), there still wasn’t the same kind of backlash that there was when Superman killed Zod. A) Because for whatever reason Superman is held up to an even higher standard than other superheroes. Its an unfair standard that no character can truly live up to. and B) DC always gets more a little more vitriol than Marvel. Personally I never understood that, because I like both equally, but what do I know?

I'd obviously go back and write an entirely new script, because this was a bad movie.

It's a dodge because we never said that changing one thing will make the whole thing better. That's something you're bringing up from left field. That's another dodge by the way.
Just answer the question that's been put to you. You're Superman and Zod is on a kill crazy berserker rage, vowing not to stop until he destroys all of humanity. And, there's no access to the Phantom Zone and Kryptonite hasn't been discovered yet. What do you do?

You realise I'm not the one you were having this conversation with right? Just because you decide to ask me a question doesn't mean my point is wrong (perhaps you know how bad the movie is and have to ask a question that merely suits you?). But I would probably have one of those building fall on top of Zod and have Superman's dad hologram tell him how to use the technology in the ship to keep him imprisoned. But none of that matters as Zack Snyder just prefers death and destruction.

I'd obviously go back and write an entirely new script, because this was a bad movie. It really isn't, the meat of a good movie is in there, just Snyder made some really stupid choices along the way, it's not so much what happens but how it does that sours much of the movie.
Such as Jonathan and Calrk's talk after Clark saves his classmates, Jonathan either shouldn't have said Clark should maybe let the kdis die but show that thought in his face whilst telling Clark after a moment of hesitation of course not you did the right thing, Jonathans priority being Clark and no one else remains but he doesn't outright tell his son something so callous, Smallville's Jonathan did this stuff all the time, he never told Clark to put himself first before others but he always showed more concern for Clark over other people whilst still encouraging his son to be a good man.
The tornado scene again could have been done so much easier if instead of being trapped in the car being what hurts his ankle a car or bike is thrown into him pining him to the car which is why he just stands there and holds up his hand to Clark, but also have him talk to Clark via his super hearing, telling Clark not to save him and why, that he loves him and so on, him just standing there doing nothing waiting to die was just so stupid when he should have been atleast trying to get to safety, maybe again like Smallville you have Clarks indestructibility be untested at that point, so they didn't know he could survive the tornado, this realisation later being something that makes Clark feel guilty over, because turns out he had nothing to fear from the tornado afterall.
I already stated my opinions on the kiss and neck snap scenes in this thread so I wont repeat myself there with how I feel they could have been made better, otherwise the rest of the film is fine, it's actually really good imo, it has other flaws but they are minor I feel, but these seem to be like the big 4 scenes people take issue with and honestly I do think you change how those scenes happen but not what they lead to and the film would have been infinitely better received, which even then is was received mostly positively with mostly positive reviews, it's just the retarded RT score makes every lame brain who see's it go oh this was a shitty movie, not saying that's you as you may genuinely hate the film for your own reasons, but most people seem to either give the film crap because of 1 or more of those scenes or due to the RT %.

If you like it you like it but yeah I despise this film for many reasons.

If it were MCU, there would be a Dance-Off. If it was the MCU there would already be two sequels, and people would actually like them.
