Well at the least the weekend estimate has gone from it dropping from 77% to 75%...
At this point it might not even hit $70 million. X-Men Apocalypse had a $9.9 million weekend and then proceeded to make an additional $19 million after.
Dark Phoenix they're saying will have a $8.3 million weekend for $51 million total. So at that rate it could finish with $67 million or still ever less because it's more front loaded than Apocalypse.

It's sad to see the X-Men go out like this. I really wish Logan was the last film released. Apparently this was suppose to be the start of a new trilogy but the reshoots nixed that. So, wait... they were going to start a trilogy with Dark Phoenix?

Minus Avengers and a few other movies seems like every movie is doing horribly.

That'll decrease more though very quickly over the next few days because The Incredibles 2 came out this weekend last year whereas this year we have MIB which will do a fraction of it. It may not seem like it's off by much but it really ain't doing too good. Avengers has propped it up a lot. Ticket sale wise it's the probably the worst year in many many years.

I kind of miss the middle budget movie. Seems like everything is either 150m and up budget, big swing for the fences or small budget horror/comedy movie. Maybe people are getting tired of every weekend is 2 or 3 bombastic blockbuster wannabes...

Yeah big movies come out every week now it seems that it's not really giving more than one or two of them a chance to breathe.
You just had Aladdin, Godzilla, X-Men, Men in Black and Shaft one after another and they're all fan driven so something has to lose out.
And the gap between cinema release and home video release is always shrinking that now most of the time you may just wait. Shazam only just came out it seemed and yet next month it's out on Blu Ray already.

People.
Believe it.
New Mutants is next.
They could have canceled these atrocities or sent them to the small screen but, they didn't. Now they'll die publicly and ugly.
X-Men are dead, long live NEW X-Men.

Will this movie gross at least 300 million dollars worldwide?

Geez, they really don't know how to work their way up to the big show. At least the original trilogy got us a little bit invested in the characters first. The X-men movies feels like if you get the 1st half of a season from each of the animated series and tried to make a single animated series out of it.

Well they did develop Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast for three movies. Some more details on this mess of a production. archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/116456538/

Aww, don't be like that, you'll always have the Blu-rays. Nothing can take that away from you. I'll tell you what, if you start a Kinberg cut petition within the next 24 hours, I'll sign it --- for old times' sake.#ReleaseTheKinbergCutNow See you tomorrow, right here, on the cookie-cutter MCU board. Discussing cookie-cutter MCU films --- for decades to come. Open. Your. Eye.

The original idea of New Mutants seemed cool. Hope we still get that but I doubt it.

It's like they had to make this movie Dark Phoenix because they made Jean Phoenix at the end of Apocalypse. There is no real evolution of story. Just, "Okay let's fit this major story in next."

Even that doesn't work from what I hear, in Apocalypse Jean had the Phoenix power, like in the original timeline the Phoenix was part of her, in Dark Phoenix it's like nope cosmic space creature or whatever.
Do they atleast explain that or not?

No infact I don't remember it being brought up at all. It's like Kinberg retcon it.

That's so dumb, atleast link it a little, like atleast be Jean's always shared a connection to the Phoenix force due to her powers, through this she subconsciously associated the Phoenix with her deeper power hence why when she lets loose we get the Phoenix form and stuff.

Just so it made sense to me I looked at it this way. Jean has fire like abilities naturally like shown in Apocalypse. The Radiation-like Cosmic force (They Originally thought it was a Solar Flair reaching the Shuttle, but said that doesn't look like a flair when they got there) entered her. This amped up her natural fire like abilities and telekinesis. I don't know if that's what the makers were going for, but it's how I justified it.
