the second Disney gets control of the X-Men, we have our first X-Men flop. They are also burying New Mutants.

Nah this always seemed like it was going to flop. Who was ever really interested in the first place? It was just the same old thing as before, following a movie that people weren't even that fond of.

Yes. That's what happened. Disney used a mind control device to subliminally convince millions of people to not want to see a movie that they get the profits for. That machine must have cost billions. Not to mention the 100s of millions Disney spent buying all the tickets to Captain Marvel. One wonders how Disney is still in business, what with spending how many billions of dollars making movies, then spending even more money to buy tickets to their own movies and also paying every film reviewer for positive reviews. Now a mind control machine? They must have VERY creative accountants to be able to pull that off

No. Fox set themselves up by not only rehiring the same writer from XMEN: The Last Stand but letting him direct the damn thing.

I think there is a good movie there that got screwed in the editing room. A LOT of scenes and lines from the trailer are cut short and/or taken out completely.

Yeah, it's looking more and more like a mouse-house hatchet job. Can't believe they'd buy X-Men just to sabotage it. It's pure evil, and there's no cause for it. I'm going to be a lot more careful where I put my cinematic dollars in this new Disney dominated landscape.

If Disney wanted to sabotage it, all they had to do was simply not market the film. Instead they gave it the red carpet treatment (TV spots, talk show appearances, social media, Youtube, etc.).
It was Fox that sabotaged this from the beginning thinking that the only people capable of putting together an X-Men film were limited to the trio of Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler-Donner.
I'm just glad it's finally over.

Disney has been marketing this movie around the clock the same way it markets MCU movies. Tons of commercials and promotions on Disney channel, a special interview with Sophie Turning during Cloak and Dagger, live youtube streaming of the red carpet premier event, tons of promotion on the Marvel youtube channel, etc. So, no, Disney did not sabotage anything.

A two-parter wouldn't have saved this. Fox never understood these characters nor had any respect for the source material and that's always been clear. Kinberg never should have been given the reigns to direct and they shouldn't have attempted to remake the Dark Phoenix again. A more accurate and/or faithful portrayal of this storyline was never going to make it to the big screen, despite how long the film was going to be. Instead of adapting another storyline or coming up with something new, they felt the need once again to apologize for The Last Stand (they already spent the last 8 films doing this).
Things were doomed from the start and now they've successfully killed the franchise until Marvel can revive it years from now, assuming Fox hasn't done permanent damage.

Yes, Disney sabotaged it by letting Marvel make superior films over the last 11 years.
