Yeah, it's the gold standard of overrated.
for the record... I used to like that movie a quite a few years back until a re-watch on Apr 10th 2013 (my previous re-watch prior to this, while I am not sure I would guesstimate around the mid-2000's or so) and, just prior to that re-watch I had a feeling it was going to drop off, but I did not expect to dislike it as much as I did. so based on that viewing in 2013... 3.5-4/10 (below average/borderline failure). the reason I say it's the gold standard of overrated is because it's the highest ranked movie in IMDb's Top 250 (it ranks #10) that I gave a 4/10 or lower.

I think it's still pretty solid. I won't watch it anymore but I wouldn't say that it aged poorly.

@julissa
That pretty much tells me it's more negative than positive, so 'solid' does not really come into it as I would say something that's not worth re-watching is average at best.
because like I always say movies are ultimately broke into two categories... those movies worth re-watching (i.e. Thumbs Up) and those that are not worth re-watching (i.e. Thumbs Down).

Some movies are good for rewatching, others were just good for that one time viewing. Then some are good for rewatching a few times then that's it. In all 3 cases, they are good movies.

any feelings on it at all. An excellent and entertaining film that I've thoroughly enjoyed every time I've watched it.

@julissa
I see we differ here as I tend to see movies like music in that, like a good song, you want to hear it again here and there as the years pass. only listening to a song once and basically never wanting to hear it again pretty much tells me that overall it's average at best and anything average at best is ultimately a Thumbs Down in my mind. the same applies to movies.
so while I have personally experienced some movies that fizzle out after some re-watches (as in no longer worth re-watching), once that happens, I no longer consider it a good movie as movies of any real worth hold up to a enjoyable enough level as the years pass on re-watches.
with that said... there are a fair amount of what I see is decent enough for a one time viewing but without re-watch it's ultimately forgettable. that helps separate the gems from just-another-movie sort of thing and in this regard, speaking for myself, nearly 80% of everything I have seen (I have seen a total of 2,250+ movies) is not worth re-watching. so while that looks like I dis a lot of what I see, I will say that most of what I see is at least decent enough not to have wasted my time and I figure that 20% or so that I will re-watch, I appreciate that much more.

It's been a few years since my last viewing. The last time I watched it, I liked it better than the previous time. Probably because I saw details I missed before. Marla always cracks me up because she's such a loon.

It's one of my few 10/10 films. Love it. It manages to ve even better than the book it's based on.

My take on the film, is the delusion of Norton's character and his alter\ego mindgame persona of Tyler. I also have the notion that Marla is also not real and just a fabrication of his mind. The fact that Tyler is a projectionist, shows we are ALL constantly projecting. Not to mention his struggle with the societal concept of masculinity and the construct of what it means to be male. This was also a film about the stripping of the male ego, but one also of bonding and commitment.
One's place in society and the point of status as well.
