Production is apparently underway in Italy.
TEXT:
Corriere Citta and One Big Soul (via The Film Stage) are reporting that celebrated filmmaker Terrence Malick has already begun production on a new film going by the title “The Last Planet”.
The project is said to have already been filming for a few weeks near Anzio, south of Rome, including in the nature reserve of Tor Caldara and an adjacent beach.
The film is also said to be allegedly about the life of Jesus Christ. Specifically it “reportedly convey passages ‘in the life of Christ’ through representing evangelical parables”. There is currently no news of casting.
The news comes as Malick recently debuted his latest WW2 film “A Hidden Life” at Cannes. Fox Searchlight acquired the rights to the film for a reported $14 million with a likely Fall release planned.

Jesus is going to be played by a black transgender lesbian. Probably not. Sure to be a white male like he's been falsely portrayed since Santa Claus first had sex with the Easter Bunny.

I was wondering when someone was going to do a film about Jesus. So famous and yet so obscure in cultural depictions. Talk about the invisible man.
I imagine he must be bald. If you are in God's presence wouldn't it dissolve all your hair?

In other words, a work of fiction. Yeah, biopic is a weird choice of word for that project.

Interesting. I'm looking forward to it although I haven't been too keen on the past couple of Malick films. I wonder if the release will fall near Gibson's sequel to the Passion of the Christ? I haven't heard much about that one lately.

I wish we were getting Verhoeven's Jesus movie instead. At least it'd be different.
