Though I wouldn't class myself of a fan of the movie in general, I do agree that the final battle sequence was its highlight and that it was very well put together. Agreed!
It really is All Just Fantastic, Fun, and Awesome to watch, Especially on the BIG Screen!

In real IMAX 3D, it was one of the greatest cinematic experiences of my life. Yep. 2 of the most surreal instances I'll never forget: 1. Jake waking up in the ship upon arrival, floating, the 3D was crystal clear & I felt like an astronaut. 2. End credits, taking off the 3D glasses after such an experience, I actually felt like I'd been in my own Avatar for the movie itself - the glasses off back to reality. So you're on James Cameron's payroll, I see.

The effects were good, the design was a mixed bag, the story was whatever, no likable characters, overall a pretty bad movie

Cameron always knows how to make an impact when it comes to the big action set pieces. The story didn't do much for me though.
