mikef6 Solid list. I'd add only one "No Direction Home" - a doc about Bob Dylan done by Martin Scorsese. Lots of live footage you can't find much otherwise. 1964-1967 is pretty much when this happened. When he 'went electric.' The music is great, but the behind-the-scenes element is just as good.

The Times of Harvey Milk (1984)
Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018)
The Times of Harvey Milk has some dark subject matter but is very soothing thanks to Harvey Fierstein's wonderful narration.
