The Black Keys new release, their first in five years after Turn Blue, brings them back to their rocking roots.
Any fans out there? Here's a couple of tracks.
The Black Keys - Shine A Little Light
The Black Keys - Tell Me Lies

I downloaded "Hi/Lo" the first opportunity that I could.
I do also like the songs "Howlin' For You" and "Gold On The Ceiling".
For the longest time, they would play "Howlin' For You" during one of the stoppages in play at the hockey game. It wasn't until years later that I found out it was this song.

I've got mixed feelings on the album. It's good to have The Black Keys back, and all the tracks are really solid, but when all is said and done this is probably their weakest album. It finds itself in this weird middle ground where it doesn't have the ambition of Attack & Release, Brothers, El Camino and Turn Blue, but also doesn't have that raw basement dweller feel of Magic Potion, Rubber Factory and the first two albums. It sounds like a polished full band playing. I'd give it a solid B rating.

Joker's Wilde You from the generation that buys single songs instead of albums? I couldn't imagine that myself. If I like a song I need to hear the entire album it came from. What can I say, I'm old and old school. Good selections though.

I find that my opinion changes after 10 or so listenings. I'll wait until I do that.

I never really listened to The Black Keys before. I know they're from Akron though, a major punk city, so I keep meaning to check them out. Thanks for the videos, I'll give them a listen. Their new album got a good review at 'The Guardian'.

The Black Keys - Shine A Little LightThe Black Keys - Tell Me LiesI can dig 'em. I dunno if I can get into this with the graphic of an electric chair. A grim symbol of the death penalty.

Yes - I do buy individual songs. However, in fairness, for "Lo/Hi", I bought the single since the album wasn't out yet.

Just about done listening to it. Not bad, but somewhat underwhelming after 5 years.

I detest bringing up old threads. HOWEVER:
The song "Go" is my jam right now.
I have made it our softball team's official playoff anthem. They just don't know it yet. [wink]
Kind of reminiscent of "Runnin' Down a Dream" by Tom Petty.
