Hi AJ, Haven't seen you around in a while. Hi Clusium Hope you are doing well! Yes, I have been a bit busy lately in new job and don't really get time these days. But I have now shifted to a new home just near my office so hopefully now I can be more here as I don't have to waste my time on travelling. That's awesome!!!! Congrats on the new job.

If a man & a woman do not want to have a baby, the solution is pretty simple: Don't have sex. Ditto for AIDS & other STDs. I'm with mslo79 .We both love the Catholic Christian Church, & will never, ever leave. This response is SO ridiculous that I actually laughed out loud! A single Catholic woman talking about abstinence! Tell that to the zillions of married women in Catholic countries who might already have multiple children, don't want/can't afford more and see the look on their faces as they contemplate years ahead of refusing their husbands sex! Tell that to the millions of people in Africa and Asia with AIDS that could have been prevented. It is criminal. WHY the fuck, if we have the technology to prevent pregnancies and disease SHOULDN'T we use it? BTW no one is asking you to leave your beloved church, just wise up to its many and varied deficiencies and fight to change them to be more human and realistic. There is so much that is so wrong. Yes, a single Catholic woman talking about abstinence. And yes, I am telling couples if you don't want more children, don't have sex. Or, if you do wish to have sex without pregnancy, have it during day 14. The reason why AIDS & STDS are widespread, is because people refuse to abstain from sex.

Nowadays I have heard that you can have sex and not get pregnant or get diseases if you use 'contraceptives'! Fancy that!

...further one might think that a loving God might suggest that, instead of banning it? No, why would He Suggest that? Well, it seems rather obvious to me that if women gets to chose when to have their children there will be less need for abortions, people will overall be healthier and reduce STD.s Its really kind of a no brainer, don't you think?

A more effective way is to only have sexual relations with one's own partner (spouse), than numerous partners or polygamous marriages.

True...butt as we just discussed, couples end up with more kids than they want or can afford.

There are four major religions you did not mention. They are not mine, but they are huge.
1) The worship of money.
2) The worship of political or military prowess.
3) The worship (blind acceptance of) "science." (It really isn't science if it is blindly accepted.)
4) The worship of physical attractiveness.

Except for Christianity, I am not very familiar with the mentioned religions.
I usually judge a religion according to three measures: How well do they treat women? How well do they treat homosexuals (or LGBTI)? How well do they treat believers of different or no religions, especially apostates?
Christianity is probably not the worst religion in that regard (Islam is worse); but also not the best. Other religions not mentioned above are much better in that regard; like Wicca or UU.
So I didn't answer the poll.

The belief that happiness can be achieved through material gain, military strength or beautifully shaped thighs.

clusium Yeah, because once someone has found the truth, which we have, it would be very unwise (to put it mildly) to leave because where else is there to go?
which pretty much plays inline with this...
"From that time on, many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him. So Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you want to leave too?” Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.” - John 6:66-69
so because the Catholic church is church Jesus Christ started (as He started it with Peter, who's the first Pope (see Matthew 16:18), and went down the generations til today), and the one He guides, there is simply no alternative.

What 'truth'? Wow, if you hadn't quoted that, I never would have seen it. I have that poster on block because it's always the same old broken record. So, why did god the father wait until just 2,000 years ago to let humans know the "truth"? Humans have been around a lot longer, why not tell them the "truth" from the git-go? That is what has never made sense to me. And why not tell the same thing to every human on Earth? Why just one small band of nomads?

Or why doesn't god give a pony to anyone who asks? Very good questions indeed, I wish I knew the answers. Maybe it's because this is not the Garden of Eden. Have you considered that?

A man at my Parish is from Egypt, & he knows quite a bit about the Coptic Orthodox faith, & he told us once, that according to the Coptic Church, St. Mark the Evangelist (whom the Coptic Church traces its Apostolic lineage to) was one of the people who walked away, when Christ Taught that we must eat His Flesh & drink His Blood, but, after leaving changed his mind & returned.
