Well, might as well add the original one too. A 7 for me, sure it started out great, but quickly descended into a bunch of weak episodes. Still, it might look campy and seriously outdated now, but I really loved this show as a kid. The centurions were nice, 'By your command' was a great catchphrase. I also prefer this version's Starbuck over the later one.

8/10 - Like you, I loved it as a kid. I was disappointed when it was cancelled.

Did you see the 1980 series? That was pretty bad, imo, apart from when Dirk Benedict came back for one episode.

Yes, I remember it. I loved that series as well. Apparently I'm the only one...lol.

It's indeed not a very popular series I guess getting rid of most of the original cast just didn't work out.

8 on the strength of the premise, the likability of the cast, the sets and models, and (let's say) about half the episodes. It wasn't the show's fault that at the time television had to be very family-friendly. Towards the end of the series, Boxey kind of disappears, which is a plus in my book.

9/10. I loved watching this while waiting for my next Star Wars fix. Sadly it got stupid the moment they brought in the super smart kid (I think he was Starbuck's alien child - it's been a while).

Solid 7 for me. Wasn't a great series, but very good.

That was a really memorable episode. I always thought the Galactica should have followed the Pegasus into battle and ended things right there. I also loved the space Nazis running into something bigger and badder than them.

The elements were all there to have a great series but I think the writing all too often was juvenile and silly. Hearing 'frak' here was even stranger than on the later series. Even though the same effects shots were used over and over, I didn't mind because it was still pretty good. I like the music and I think the cast very good. Strong production for a tv series. 7/10

8/10 - a sci-fi classic that did things quite well considering budget and effects constraints at the time, coupled with the drive for more "family-friendly" television at the time. I can rewatch this series over and over. I can't say that about the new version of BSG. Also, the super smart kid didn't show up until GALACTICA 1980. Fun fact: He was played by Patrick Stuart! Boy, has he aged since then! The best episode of the original BSG and GALACTICA 1980, IMHO, is the last episode of the latter: "The Return of Starbuck". A perfect episode of BSG.

I gave it a 7 for its soundtrack, design, and cast. As a Star Wars rip off it was well designed, however I havent watched it in ages so dont know how well it holds up episode to episode.
The Starbuck and cylon on the planet episode is probably the only one of Galactica 1980 I remember.
I never bothered with the remake because they went to cheap. They at least needed to copy the clothing and helmets.
And cylons without vocoders are not cylons (sorry Tricia).

Ok, after watching it again, I'm giving it an 8/10.
I like it more with each watching, the opposite of the remake. I might even pick up the set.

Really liked it as a kid, the special effects were great, the Cylons are great bad guys, love the premise.
But it had downsides that I started to notice even as a kid. Like... nobody acted like they'd just been through a gigantic genocide. They seemed like one big happy fleet, rather than a bunch of traumatised survivors.
And the effects were great... but they had like 10 shots that they used over and over and over and over and over... it got old.
Plus, their cosmology sucked. They talked about a solar system and a galaxy as if they were the same thing. They were never clear about whether the ships travelled at light speed, faster than that, or what. And so on.

I watched at least part of it as a kid, but I don't remember it well enough to rate it.
