I usually order several books in one order from Amazon and sometimes I don't read all of them immediately but I do get around to them within a month or two.

I usually have about twenty books I haven't read, more than that and it starts to get on my nerves, I don't like having a lot of unread books lying about.

I have a lot of non-fiction books, which I keep around in case I have to look something up or do some research, but it's unlikely I'll ever read them cover to cover. Most of them are on history, arts and philosophy.
Then I also own a lot of classics in physical form, and I don't know if I'll ever have the time to read them. I have the complete works of Goethe, Schiller, Balzac, Dickens, but they are mostly gathering dust on the shelves.
The total number of my unread books must be somewhere between 4000-5000.

I don't keep as many books around anymore. \
I have around 10 that are on my list that I own, that's about where I keep it.
It's rare for me these days to keep a book after reading it.

Excluding old PD titles on my Kindle I probably have between 300 and 400 books, out of those maybe about 150 of them I haven't read (i'm bad about this). I have a ton of Penguin Classics in a huge cardboard box that I need to dig into (found a ton of them at an estate sale for a dime a piece).

I read about 60 books a year, and every year I promise myself to read only the books I own, so I can donate most of them at the end of a year or so. Instead, I keep checking more out of the library (those library bastards keep tempting me with their "new book" lists), so I never get around to my own books.

Too many. A big winter project for me is to weed out a lot. I’m running out of room and it would be better for someone to get enjoyment out of the stuff I won’t read again

I have hundreds. When I used to eBay, I would buy and sell quite a bit. I saved some of the ones I found interestingly esoteric in the hopes of cracking a 50 to 100 year old book and peering into the mind of the author. I still need to put down the computer more and start doing that.
