Well guys it only took a week... lol (In Yoda voice): "Victory? Not one week of victory, Master Homergreg! Begun these trilogy flame wars have." I thought I'd scan around and see how these IMDb message boards offshoots were doing. It didn't take long for trilogy flame wars to start. Let the record show that it was started here on IMDb2.freeforums by kuatorises, who created this very thread to answer his own question by finger pointing... complete with implication and defamation of prequel fans. A loaded question if there ever was one! Coincidentally, kuatorises is the same guy who created the sub-boards for the SW PT on a similar offshoot forum by titling it "....so about those sh*tty prequels" (or something very close to that). Ugh! These kids and their constipated whining over fanbase demographics!... Nice touch with that Archie Bunker meme by the way. 👍

I've never come across any prequel fans trashing or criticizing ANH. However it has become very fashionable and popular amongst Rey fans, and to a lesser extent TFA fans, to trash ANH. The most common thing that avid TFA fans attack is Luke Skywalker. Luke is trashed in comparison with Rey. The claims are that he is a bigger MarySue (especially), less relatable, less endearing, more poorly written. But I've also come across attacks on ANH as being poorly written, poorer character development, poor special effects, and even sexist. All in comparison to TFA, not the prequels. It became very fashionable amongst avid TFA and Rey fans right after TFA started drawing notable criticism for rehashing ANH and Rey being a MarySue force user... about a year ago. ~Liar liar, pants on fire!~ Bull and shit. I have never seen that in all my time online. It's always the Prequel fanbrats who do that. Don't try to make this about fans of the new films. I forget what year was, but I definitely noticed when the tide started to turn. The prequels were almost universally panned for years and then some of the kids who grew up watching them became young adults. They were now in their 20s and started to turn all the criticism on its head. They lashed out at both tthe people who criticized the movies and the original trilogy. The prequels wweren't bad,, we were just nostalgic. We were to blame, not the poor quality of the prequels themselves, but us for not accepting their inferiority. I have seen a similar mindset directed at Sam Raimi's Spiderman movies when the two new ones came out and the older X-Men movies. They want everything rebooted and when it is rebooted the newer one equals the better one because it's got more booms for their little brains.

Has anyone ever noticed that when defending the prequels a common tactic is to go after this movie? They say that it is boring and mock the light saber fight. I think that this is a byproduct of that era that they grew up in. I think that they think all the flipping, twisting, and twirling in the prequels makes the duels better. They are Transformers fans (Bay movies). They are the reason there are what eight or nine Fast and Furious movies now? I started to notice this trend after the release of the final movie. Have you ever noticed that your OPs tend to be aggressively naive and willfully negligent, to put it mildly? When did it become fashionable...? Star Wars is the movie that - from the beginning and to this very day - is accused of having singlehandedly destroyed American cinema and auteur film, by pushing narratives back into dumbed down, simplistic black and white fairy-tale-territory, and by focusing on merchandizing and form over substance. Personally I never gave much credence to that simplification, but looking at your history of simplistic, black and white finger pointing, we may consider you a genuine byproduct of this criticism and franchise. Awww, you were a prequel fan aren't you? If my post sounds accusatory, that's because it is. I am accusing a certain portion of the fan base of doing what I claim they are doing. If that bothers you, that's your problem. I don't feel bad about saying it, because it's true. I've seen it on the Internet for years. I can even find examples rather easily: As of today, this comment has 975 likes. As of this date, this comment has 546 likes. As of this date, this comment has 389 likes.. This one has 273 likes. This one has 250 likes. All of them can be found here. I believe you can sit down now.

There are multiple comments which are two years or older for the video (before TFA) which trash the ANH Obi-Wan vs Vader light saber duel. Imo at least. BB ;-)

About the mentioned YouTube video where several comments trash ANH; m.youtube.com/watch?v=8kpHK4YIwY4* But before I get into that, I want to say this; I don't care if some people like or love the prequels. Fine with me. Everybody has the right to their own personal taste. The question is simply this; was ANH trashed before The Force Awakens was released? And the answer is yes. Did some people say that the prequels were better than ANH? Again yes.Examples with comments to the ANH lightsaber duel video; Imo at least, BB ;-)

The "ROTS great" buzz died down and people started to criticize that just as much as the other two. Then prequel fans got really aggressive. I hate to repeat myself, but I think they just got old enough to realize that the movies they grew up loving were not very good and instead of recognizing that lashed out at the people criticizing said movies. You're allowed to like whatever you want. This isn't that kind of debate. I'm not telling you what you can and can't like – God knows I like plenty of bad movies myself. I love a good guilty pleasure. But anyone denying what both you and I have clearly showed evidence of is just in denial.

And people wonder why I've grown to hate the SW fandom so much? Most of them wouldn't know a good movie if they saw one. The generation that grew up with the prequels have it in their demented heads that the prequels are perfect works of art that should never be critiqued, because that might mean they'll be found wanting. And the originals just crappy old movies that people only like because of nostalgia! Star Wars fans make me sick.

God I hate prequel fans.

But seriously Weird Raptor, what I and most other posters really wonder is what went so obviously wrong with your life and character.
You are a Brony-guy in his thirties spending most of his day spewing out dozens of hateful online posts on the subject of kiddy B-movies and insulting their fandom, instead of doing something remotely worthwhile with your life.
Your emotional and intellectual instability even results in your posts being worthless emo-drivel, severely plagued by blatant fallacies (your all time favorites: anecdotal and straw man) and desperate adhoms. Not to speak of your infamous inability to grasp concept thinking.
It's a truly pathetic and pitiful performance on your part. Granted, watching a rabid dog chase and eat his own tail is certainly entertaining to some degree, but maybe you should heed Obi Wan's immortal prequel words: You may want to go home and rethink your life.

As you signature correctly states - truly no contest there. Thank you for your unwavering propensity for low effort thinking, Niccy.

I'm just going to throw this out there so people know where I'm coming from first. I am not a Star Wars fan. I'm not here to hate on any of you that are. I'm simply going to speak my piece from an outside perspective into the whole thing.
My experience with Star Wars began when I went and saw The Phantom Menace in theaters (I was 12) I remember going because my best friend at the time wanted to go see a movie and I think that was the best option. I remember thinking that the kid playing Anakin sucked and that Darth Maul was pretty f'ing awesome. Now mind you going into all of this I didn't realize that this was all building up to his turn into Vader so this whole prequel thing was new to me. I then eventually saw Attack of The Clones and Revenge of the Sith. I honestly didn't care for any of these films and nothing to me topped how cool I felt Darth Maul was. I wanted to see more of him and never got it. Outside of Ewan McGregor I can't really say any of the acting was very good either. The whole "NOOOOOOO!" thing with Vader at the end of Episode 3 was hilariously bad to me. Plus the whole "he killed younglings" or whatever they were called was really bad to me.
Now be warned here because I saw the prequels BEFORE the original trilogy. Don't hate me for it I'm simply speaking my perspective. I didn't watch the original trilogy until last year. I was into a girl who is OBSESSED with Star Wars. She's got multiple Star Wars themed tattoo's and everything. So I wanted to check out The Force Awakens and she talked me into watching the original trilogy first feeling like I'd be missing out completely had I not. Looking back? Yeah I don't feel like I needed to watch those films at all. Seeing them after watching the prequels they immediately were very dated. Not saying the prequels are better, don't put me in that group. They were very dated and to me the acting seemed very bad watching it in 2016 compared to in the 80's when some of you may have seen them. Had I been born earlier and watched them when I was younger I may have felt differently. I don't shame any of you for liking them. My form of Star Wars obsession is Mass Effect the video series. But to me, the acting took me out of a lot of the films and hearing for so long how awesome Vader was and then to watch these movies as a 29 year old man. I was honestly left very disappointed. I just couldn't get into any of the story or the characters. I binged watched them all back to back to back and they all just ran together for me leaving me outside of maybe a couple parts unable to distinguish which one was which.
After seeing those I then watched TFA and I thought it was ok. I think I gave it a 5/10. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. However I did like it better than any of the previous ones. The prequels were dumb (outside of 1 which was ok simply because I thought Maul was super cool. A lot cooler than I found Vader to be). Then I the original trilogy I was just flat out bored watching them so they didn't leave a very good taste in my mouth. I think I gave them all like a 4/10. I believe I fell victim a few things here:
1) I watched it at such a later date in my life that nostalgia wasn't gonna be a factor for me 2) It was such a hyped thing that it was simply only going to disappoint me 3) It became immediately dated because I saw the prequels first
So yeah, I'm not trying to hate on any of you who enjoy the franchise. More power to you, I just hope this gives some of you another perspective from somebody who saw those movies at a later time than most of you. I'm not gonna sit here and shit on the movies but we all know not most people can be civil about tastes in things.
Also, in case any of you were wondering. Myself and said girl didn't quite work out haha

It's like I said in another post (paraphrasing): @weird's message boards psyche is "if you don't agree with my opinion then you're not allowed to have one". The fact that he thinks that he is even capable of having a debate or a contrasting discussion is a delusion of epic proportions! I have to admit it does make it fun deconstructing him. 😉

Another "pathetic life form" who actually thinks prequel fans are the only ones who manifest and express irrational hatred in the SW fanbase; and who attaches all his self esteem to hating the prequels and thinking he is better than prequel fans.
