well, this might have been true in 1979. today this song would have to be picturized with heaps of waste and dead rats in the background.

i have a slightly right-wing marathi friend who lives in lower parel. he had often told me that he still remembers his childhood when everything used to be clean and the mumbai beaches used to be awesome.

Pimpin, whenever I step down from the local train at Churchgate, I feel that I've arrived in a foreign country. Gothic architecture, clean roads with sparse traffic, no three-wheelers, a relaxed ambiance tranquilized by cool sea-breeze, and the locals appear to be living in a time-bubble untouched by all the debasement that has encroached the other less-privileged Mumbai. I don't think the big fish will ever let South Mumbai degrade. The rest of Mumbai can go to hell.

foreign country is a bit of a stretch. both churchgate and CST stations are sightly dirty.though i last went there 5 years ago.
