"A vengeful spirit has taken the form of the Tooth Fairy to exact vengeance on the town that lynched her 150 years earlier. Her only opposition is the only child, now grown up, who has survived her before" ** Boring as hell early 2000's movie about "scary" CGI Tooth Fairy. The opening scene that tells us the Tooth Fairy origin was interesting, so at first I expected this movie to be better. Using the Tooth Fairy as a horror monster was an original idea, but the movie itself turned out to be simply bad. I can think of only 2 other movies using the same idea and they were made after "Darkness Falls": "The Tooth Fairy" (2006) and Italian "The Haunting of Helena" (2012). I have only seen the latter and it wasn't good either. Eventually the only thing I liked about "Darkness Falls" was the end credits song. It's really good. Anyways, I'm sure that there are some fans of Darkness Falls out there... Right?

Yeah. I remember this turd, saw it in the theaters.
Wasn't it inspired by a short film or something?

Indeed very snooze-worthy.

Yes, absolutely ridiculous movie. And I think the "tooth fairy" doesn't fully disappear at the end or something? I can't remember. But yeah, it's a turd of a movie.

It wasn't as bad as many of you make it out to be. I saw it in theaters and jumped out of my seat a couple of times and slept with a light on that night. So it did what I expected it to.

I remember people talking about this movie before it was released. Everyone was excited about it and thought it looked so good. Finally saw it for myself...absolutely hated it. Boring as hell. Horror done all wrong.

"Darkness Falls" is one of those films I keep pushing back. I'll eventually see it one day, but as for now I'm in no rush.
The short that inspired it is actually quite decent.
I've actually seen The Tooth Fairy. Very ho-hum in what plays out more like a routine supernatural slasher with some nasty moments, than anything from a fairytale horror.

Stan Winston's Tooth Fairy design was cool. Seeing Emily Browning after "Ghost Ship" was neat. I think one of the actresses from "Wolf Creek" has a small part as a Nurse. I remember Chaney Kley the actor who played the main character died relatively young. The version on TV has a couple deleted scenes put in.

The movie starts off great, kind of drags for a bit, but is much better than a lot of stuff out there. It couldn't deliver on the promise of that opening sequence.

Although I've seen neither film, is the Larry the Cable Guy Tooth Fairy movie scarier than this?

Also, I keep confusing this with the X Files episode of the same name

Not sure about Larry the cable guy. But there is a 2008 horror movie called "Tooth Fairy". It's okay. Not as exciting as "Darkness Falls". PJ Soles has a part in it.

This is one of those movies that was a notorious disappointment in its time. I haven't watched it in at least ten years, but I don't expect it's gotten any better.
Yes, it has its fans, but I'm still kind of surprised this is a movie people still want to discuss in 2019.

It's a horror film about a vengeful demonic spirit. Which if I'm not mistaken has been a subject of many a horror pic this last decade - franchises even...

Sure, but for me it didn't leave any lasting impression. But hey, I'm clearly in the minority here! This movie gets brought up a lot, so apparently there's an appeal that I just don't get.

Oh you are definitely in the majority, the rating it has on IMDb is testimony to that fact. I think that ultimately it is one of those splinters of horror that has fans because like me that's what spooks them. We all of course have our own kinks in horror, it's no biggie, as long as folk can just accept we have different things that chill us in films then it's all good really.
