No offense. But this is the worst flaming pile of dog poop I can ever remember watching.
At first I was angry. But then I went to the IMDb website and read the user reviews. I don't feel so bad anymore. 99 percent of the user reviews agreed with me. Its terrible.
The main complaints are; 1) There are no attractive or appealing characters. As a matter of fact, they are all annoying. 2) The spaceship crew is too young --- and they act like it. And they don't wear uniforms. Just their underwear. 3) Its unrealistic. - Who is sponsoring this mission to save the Earth and all humankind? NASA? The military? A country? - Apparently there is no application, screening or analysis process for astronauts (like there is and always has been for all space programs). Or training or chain of command. - How did the alien spaceship get all the way to the ground without detection? What happened to all the satellites, the space station, and all the telescopes?
Have you seen it? What did or what do you think?

My brother watched the first episode and thought it was crap. He then urged me to watch it as well, so that we could talk about how crappy it was. I did, and I agree with him (and you). I might still watch a few more episodes, just to see where it is going.

The thought of Katee Sackhoff in her underwear does not inspire Catman to watch.

The thought of Katee Sackhoff in her underwear does not inspire Catman to watch. She's in good shape. But she's no playboy model.

"Many criticisms of Another Life are aimed at the cast of characters. The crew of the Salvare are mostly 20-somethings who appear to have very little impulse control, professional discipline, or crisis management skills - all of which should really have disqualified them from such an important mission. A mutiny occurs in the very first episode over a simple disagreement, and scenes of characters bickering, gossiping, and yelling at each other in the early episodes become quite grating. And that isn't the only problem that reviewers found with the show."screenrant.com/another-life-netflix-reviews-bad-why/

Well, I just finished season 1. All 10 episodes. It doesn't get any better.
SPOILERS !!! Here is an example of how stupid this show is/was.
The lead commander has an AI assistant. She misses her husband. Her AI offers to help. She tells him to appear as her husband. They start talking and end up having sex. Then she wakes up naked with the AI sitting there.
She is embarrassed. He says he has fallen in love with her. She tells him that was a mistake and to delete those files. He gets mad and abandons the ship.
An alien takes control of the ship. She asks the AI assistant to help. He refuses because he is heartbroken. At the last minute he returns and helps save the ship.
Later after thinking about it, the AI assistant tells the lead commander he wants to apologize. She says --- and get this --- "No, you don't have to apologize. You have the right to your feelings."
Can you imagine? He abandoned his duties and let the ship fall into alien hands. And risked the lives of all the crew. All because his feelings were hurt because, the married woman he just had sex with feels bad about cheating on her husband. And the whole crew is understanding and supportive.
So stupid.

To parrot other reviews on other sites, this show is like CBS's "Big Brother" or MTV's "Real World" in outer space.
The characters are more interested in having sex and getting high than their mission --- which is to save humanity and the Earth.
And being that 95 percent of them are in their early twenties, they act like immature, irresponsible babies the whole time.
The constant bickering is annoying. The continual "Does he like me? Did I hurt her feelings? I think 'so and so' is upset with me" is so juvenile and unrealistic.
The target audience must be teens and early twenty-somethings --- and generally ignorant and/or immature people.
My friends and I watched it just to see how bad it was, and to analyze why it was so bad.

A lot of the things you don't like are things I don't like so I can safely skip this one.

I might still watch a few more episodes, just to see where it is going. I watched the second episode and that was it. Life is too short to watch crappy TV shows. I then skipped ahead to the last episode just to see how it was going to be resolved, fast-forwarding through the crew-drama parts. Unless Netflix sends armed goons to my home to force me at gunpoint, there is no way I am watching the whole thing OR season 2 (in the unlikely event it gets made).

I felt bad for Katee Sackhoff. I saw her arguing with some guy on Twitter. He pointed out the bad reviews and she was trying to check it out for himself.

I watched the first episode and a half by myself. And I couldn't make it through episode two. I was angry. But then I went online and checked out reviews (professional and amateur) and saw most people agreed with me. So I told my friends and they said, "Let's check it out." We started laughing and pointing out why it was so bad. It was like Mystery Theater 3000. We had so much fun I was able to finish. But I never could have by myself. Makes me think, "They pay people to write this stuff? Most people could do a better job than this. And they would love the money."
