Polling everybody to find out which Indiana Jones movie is their favorite. For me it's a toss up between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade.

Raiders of the Lost Ark for me. In fact, most of the time, I don't even acknowledge that there are sequels to this movie, because it works great as a stand-alone film.

Last Crusade for me, one of the best adventure movies ever. It's got comedy, a good script, serious when it needs to be and the tank chase is fantastic.
I'm Not putting Raiders down. Raiders is great in the same ways as Crusade, I just think Crusade has a pinch more humour and the father/son relationship works well.

Difficult -- I love them all -- but I can't deny the magic of Raiders.

I can't answer this!! For the longest time I thought it was an an easy answer- the third installment, of course! But now I'm thinking the first movie may be better than the third. I just can't decide. I think we can all agree that the fourth movie was the worst.

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark 2. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
I don't even acknowledge the other one. I've tried to repress it.
The trilogy are all favorite films of mine, though. Funnily enough, Temple helped bring about the PG-13 rating because it was so dark (a lot of parent groups whined), and yet it was the only one that didn't scare me as a small child. Toht's head melting and Donovan aging to death both scared me way more than anything in Temple. I think all are fairly close in quality, but Raiders is the most mature, very classic old-timey-feeling film with the best leading lady and best McGuffin. The atmosphere and cinematography (Sri Lanka during the elephant ride) of Temple is really amazing, though. One of the least Harrison-like performances of his whole career is probably the Black Sleep of Kali sequence, which is one of the creepiest moments in the trilogy. The best part of Crusade is Sean and Harrison, as well as the very adult humor regarding Elsa. It's a relatively lighter film, though. Crusade might actually edge out the others for the best film score track of all, which is Henry, Sr. and the Grail Knight's theme that plays most prominently over the start of the credits when the four are riding off into the sunset.
I also used to play Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (computer game) as a child. It was one of the few games I ever played.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye is also one of the greatest rides at Disneyland Anaheim with an absolutely gorgeous walk-through entrance/line queue area and ride design. It opened in 1995 and I remember getting one of the decoder cards they gave out that first year for the writing on the walls. The music in the ride itself is heavily from Temple and it works so well. And I love all the animatronic Indys, even though Harrison didn't do the voice (if only). They fairly recently changed the special effects in the three entrance chambers (only the middle one is now used with different effects/voiceover). The ride is unfortunately one of the most likely to break down in Disneyland, though. I actually was on it one time when it broke down and the lights came on. So weird to see the ride with the lights on!

So weird to see the ride with the lights on! My favorite is Last Crusade, but only by a hair. (And that's mostly because of guess-who and the interactions between him and Harrison Ford.) Raiders is its near-equal. Temple of Doom is also very strong, though unfortunately still underrated, and, while Crystal Skull is nowhere near as good as the other three, I didn't think it's as bad as everyone makes it out to be. (Funny kind of world, though—we've got ghosts trapped in the Ark, immortal knights, the Judeo-Christian God, Hindu deities, and aliens!) Just responding to your point about the ride. I've only ridden on it once (have been to WDW many times but only once to Disneyland), but it is undoubtedly one of the greatest Disney rides ever built, on the same level as (the original) Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Tom Sawyer Island, and Tower of Terror. I was disappointed to hear that they had changed the misdirection of the three passageways. I always thought that was wonderfully clever.

1. Raiders of the lost Ark 2. The last crusade 3. Temple of Doom 4. Crystall Skull
I like the 1st and the 3rd about the same, but since I have to vote for one I give it to Raiders, since it has a very special place in my heart since the first time I saw it. Temple of Doom is good, but not as good. I don't think the 4th one is as bad as some people say, but it's my least favourite by far. Okay movie with a stupid finale, nothing else.

The Last Crusade Raiders of the Lost Ark Temple of Doom Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Last Crusade will always be my favorite. Sean Connery is amazing as Indy's father.

1. Temple of Doom--I loved Shortround and his relationship with Indiana was great. Also had a good mix of drama and comedy (and horror). 2. The Last Crusade--The Connery/Ford duo was superb, and that tank sequence was great, as was the plane fight. 3. Raiders of the Lost Ark
The 4th one was garbage, plain and simple. From the stupid story, to shoehorning one-note Lebeouf in, to the horrendous green-screening used--it was just bad. There is no saving that film at all, and Spielberg should be ashamed.

1. Raiders 2. Temple Of Doom (tried something different, results varied, but I liked it was different) 3. Last Crusade (well done, loved the Connery/Ford pairing, but ultimately it felt a bit samey to Raiders to me) 4. Crystal Skull (meh)

I know no one will agree, but I always liked Temple of Doom the best. Sure Willie and Short Round were annoying, but I find it to be the most adventurous entry with the best atmosphere and the greatest villain as well.
