Unfortunately for Ray Porter, it’s obvious that she’s going to cast someone more well known for the role.

Of all the upcoming DC movies this one worries me the most. DuVernay is good at low budget dramas but not epic sci-fi spectacle as A Wrinkle In Time proves - that was just terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE. And Tom King being her co-writer doesn't help either.

Whatever happens, I've a feeling we're in for some weird shit.

This film could be just as visually interesting as The Eternals, but I don't have a lot of faith in Ava DuVernay after how she handled A Wrinkle in Time.

I didn't hate A Wrinkle in Time as much as I thought but admittedly, I'm scratching my head as to how she got the gig. The closest comparison I could make is like when they gave the Hulk movie to Ang Lee.

She’s apparently a pretty in-demand director.

The closest comparison I could make is like when they gave the Hulk movie to Ang Lee. I mean it's kind of odd how a lot of directors get the job, then it's kind of odd when some great directors get the job and make mediocre product. I mean you have Academy Award nominated Kenneth Branagh and a director of Game of Thrones both making lesser Thor films than comedy director Taika Waititi.
Then you got The Rocketeer director making a decent Cap film but comedy TV guys the Russo's come in and make Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, AND Endgame. Then someone like Martin Campbell hired for Green Lantern and blows it while The Hangover guy is making a dope looking Martin Scorsese-esque Joker film! I mean hell.. WB gave Zack Snyder three chances while Disney was hiring the director of Cop Car to make the new Spider-Man.
But of course you have the perfect people for the material actually come in and kill it like Chris Nolan, Patty Jenkins, and James Gunn.
So I used to scratch my head at these kinds of things but after the whirlwind of surprises I've seen it's really all about that finished product.

Are we going to get Kirby New Gods or King New Gods?
There's a huge difference between the two...

DuVernay really needs to make herself into the expert. If she really wanted to "imply" that Darkseid was in the film in a way that would have excited the fans, she could have posted something like this...
That's what I would have done.
The use of that symbols means you understand the character and his origins. It's a mike drop as opposed to a name drop.
Personally, I'd prefer Morrison's New God's but, there's fuck-all chance of that happening, I guess we'll see.

I wonder who she’ll get for Big Barda. Lynn Collins would be neat but she may be too thin-and too old by their standards.
