Better than expected. It does kind of start slow what with the mystery and all, but once Geena Davis goes on her adventure with SLJ, it picks up. The action is nicely done. That bridge scene in the finale was impressive for the year it came out. Read about it failing at the box office and was like, "how'd this happen?". Were people just unwilling to suspend disbelief at Davis playing an assassin? It'd seem like a juicy opportunity to simply advertise it as a feminine wish-fulfillment escapist piece. "Be a good housewife, find out you're a kickass spy, save the world, murder your shitty ex". That kind of thing.

I like this movie. It was poorly marketed when it came out.

I like this movie. It was poorly marketed when it came out. Ok looking at the production team, this was right after Cutthroat Island and Last Action Hero. I guess those still left a bad taste in people's mouths.

Samuel L. Jackson has said that it's one of his favorite movies of his own.

It's an entertaining movie for the most part. I have a soft spot for 1990's Renny Harlin and he also directed one of the better A Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.
6.5/10

I used to watch it quite a bit. Loved the whole premise of a badass assasin that didn’t know she was one. I still quote it from time to time and the scene where they’re talking about biting a girls ear to distract her from the pain of having sex for the first time...and Samuel L Jackson response was something like ‘I usually just smack them in the jaw and yell Pop Goes the Weasel!’ I still laugh at just thinking about.

Always been a favourite movie of mine. Love Geena in it, love Jackson in it, just love everything about it. It also has one of my all time favourite lines :
"Well, what's wrong with the dog?" "Simple. He's been licking his asshole for the last three straight hours! I submit to you that there is nothing there worth more than an hour's attention. I should think that whatever he is attempting to dislodge is either gone for good, or there to stay. Wouldn't you agree?"

Definitely time for me to revisit this one. I haven't seen it since it was first released and while I do remember liking it, I forget a lot of what happens.

I don't know if this is true or not, It's been a little while now since the last time that I watched the Movie but I heard a rumor that "THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT" is the Movie that Geena Davis fired off the Most F-Bombs in in her whole Movie Career so far.
I don't supposed there is anybody here that would know if something like that is really true or not ?

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I LOVE this movie! I loved it when I first saw it as a child(and yes, my parents allowed me to watch this film when I was 6 or 7 years old). Geena Davis was a BADASS and Samuel L. Jackson was awesome! I hate that it didn't do so well at the box office. Still, it's a great film. This is how you do a female-led action film correctly!

Nice 90s flick, not a great film but a fun watch, 7/10 sounds to be the correct rating.

kingslayerNope. it's simply there are only 152 movies (was 151 but I recently shifted Back to the Future (1985) back into my favorites upon a recent re-watch, which makes 152 now) I score a 7/10 or higher and anything I score a 7/10 or higher is among My Favorite Movies in general. there is no restriction on what movies make it, it's simply comes back to once a movie reaches a certain level of all around enjoyment it becomes a favorite. so it just happened to be 152 movies. If you mean 'great' as in more upper echelon status, say 9/10 or 10/10, then I agree. but it's among the top 7% (i.e. 152/2250+) of ALL movies I have seen, which means it's better than 93%+ of all of the movies I have seen. so depending on what standard you want to use it might look pretty great as the 'better than 93% of all movies I have seen' makes it appear pretty great. but when I just compare it to my upper echelon movies, then it's not that great, but comfortably above average at the least.
