I'm not, but...

While I am 99.99% certain that the long awaited annoncement of Alien life will not be happening...

I am curious to find out how the rest of this "event" turns out...

Tiny Nevada town near secretive Area 51 braces for alien hunters

RACHEL, Nevada (Reuters) - Connie West, co-owner of an alien-themed motel in the tiny U.S. desert outpost of Rachel, Nevada, believes they are coming no matter what. Not aliens, but alien hunters.

A whimsical invitation on Facebook has urged UFO enthusiasts to gather on Sept. 20 and "storm" nearby Area 51, a U.S. military base long rumored to house extraterrestrials and spaceships. More than 2 million Facebook users have said they plan to go.

Residents of Rachel, a 150-mile (240-km) drive from Las Vegas and home to roughly 50 people, are split on how to respond. Some sternly warn the public to stay away, fearing large crowds will overwhelm a town with no gas station or grocery store. Others, including West, believe the best course is to welcome them with a music festival dubbed Alienstock.

West, with her mother, runs Rachel's only business, the Little A'Le'Inn motel and restaurant, and was inundated with phone calls as soon as the Facebook post appeared. She estimates at least 30,000 people will arrive on Sept. 20, and she's scrambling to order enough portable toilets. As of mid-August, she had secured 30.

Now, Roberts is trying to draw people instead (FROM AREA 51) to Alienstock, a three-day music festival in Rachel. West said she gained permission from local property owners to fence off 30 acres (12 hectares) for festival camping and parking, and she made arrangements to bring in a water truck plus hire security personnel and paramedics.

A website is selling Alienstock parking and campsite permits but does not list any performers. Roberts did not respond to requests for comment, but locals have plenty to say.

About 40 miles (64 km) away in Hiko, Nevada, a gift shop called the Alien Research Center also plans an event with food trucks, live bands, games and entertainment on Sept. 20 and 21.

RACHEL, Nev., Sept 20 (Reuters) - UFO enthusiasts drawn by alien-themed festivities poured into rural Nevada on Friday near the Area 51 U.S. military base, but fears of a mass raid on the remote site or a public safety crisis proved unfounded, with only five people arrested.

More than 3,000 out-of-towners ventured on Thursday and Friday to the desert region around Area 51, a secretive U.S. Air Force installation long rumored to house government secrets about extraterrestrial life and spaceships.

The pilgrimage and two festivals welcoming the visitors were organized after a Facebook user jokingly exhorted readers to "storm" Area 51 on Sept. 20 "to see them aliens." The date chosen for the gathering was never explained.

Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee said the region's guests were largely well behaved, with just a few exceptions. "I don't want to jinx myself, but so far it's gone pretty well," he said on Friday afternoon.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of trespassing onto the grounds of Area 51, Lee said. Another was arrested for indecent exposure after urinating near an entrance to the base, and a fifth for an alcohol-related incident, Lee said.

A steady stream of cars continued rolling into the county on Friday for events that were scheduled to run through the weekend.

The arrests were reported after a group of about 150 UFO fans and curiosity-seekers gathered outside the heavily guarded entrance to Area 51 around 3 a.m. on Friday, the date and time set by the social-media invitation that went viral.

One man wore an orange space suit and some sported tin foil hats and alien masks. A sign among the gathering read "Free E.T. from the government."

"A bunch of random people in weird costumes standing outside of a government base, why would you want to miss that?" said a YouTube personality who goes by the name Atozy. "That's a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

One young woman ducked under a protective gate and was momentarily detained by authorities and released. Most showed no interest in crossing the barrier, according to law enforcement officials keeping watch over the crowd.

"They're just here to see what's going on," said Sergeant Orlando Guerra of the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division. "They’re here to have fun."

Stealth bomber for Area 51 crowd? U.S. military unit apologizes for tweet

(Reuters) - A U.S. military unit apologized on Saturday and deleted a tweet that used the specter of a stealth bomber being deployed against any young people who tried to break into the Area 51 base in Nevada.

The tweet, posted on Friday on the Twitter account of the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS), took aim at UFO fans and curiosity seekers who poured into the Nevada desert this week, after an online campaign to "storm" the U.S. military base long rumored to house government secrets about extraterrestrial life and spaceships.

Alongside a photo of military men and women standing at attention in uniform in front of a B-2 stealth bomber, it read, "The last thing #Millennials will see if they attempt the #area51raid today."

On Saturday, DVIDS said on Twitter that an employee of its DVIDSHub account posted a tweet that "in NO WAY supports the stance of the Department of Defense. It was inappropriate and we apologize for this mistake."
