Watched this on Netflix. Came out last year. Basically a war movie about Nazis with a zombie-like twist to it. In short, I really liked it. The characters were interesting enough to get invested into the story, and if you like gore, there’s plenty of carnage candy to be present. Highly recommend it.

Eh, didn't really do it for me. I prefer the Dead Snow movies for my Nazi zombie needs.

I really enjoyed it. It knew what it was and just went with it.

There were zero -- ZERO -- African-Americans in the U.S. paratroopers in WWII. The American armed forces back then were, unfortunately, racially segregated.
So the film does NOT work as a war movie at all... There are many other ludicrous errors in it as well -- especially in the opening scenes.

I don’t really care about historical accuracy that much in OTT horror movies.

The story could have easily been set during the Korean or Vietnam wars, when the US military was integrated.
The main (black) actor in OVERLORD is quite good in it. No issue there... But his presence in a WWII setting is a deal-breaker for me. That it’s a horror movie is no defense... because it’s a horror movie with a distinct historical setting.
Would you have liked the movie if the WWII Nazis in it all wore WWI-era spiked helmets (with no explanation)? Or how about Waffen-SS soldiers in pink uniforms? I mean, why not — it’s just a horror flick, right?
What would you think of a horror film about a pack of werewolves stalking Napoleon’s army in Russia... in which Napoleon sends his elite unit of Japanese samurai to hunt them?
After all, it’s just a horror movie...

Well, while I didn’t like the movie, the gore effects were pretty darn good.

What I saw I liked. I own it on Blu-ray but just haven’t finished it. Feels very much like what a wolfenstein movie could be like.
