I remembered when they said in 2015 about the no smoking policy in Marvel films, Wormhole9 was upset because no one will smoke in Marvel movies anymore and i bet Darkpast is upset about this too.
I bet they think smoking cigarattes and cigars is "cool", what's so cool about getting lung cancer?

Not a smoker myself but I'm indifferent to whether they include it or not.

Maybe it's a matter of scale. Half the universe was killed, but smoking cigarettes is too hardcore.

Why should one care whether or not a movie features smoking?

Why does anyone care?
Just what we need. A ciggie break before the hero fights the baddie.

It’s only a problem in the first Captain America film... A World War II in which nobody smokes?
That’s stretching “alternate history” way beyond the point of credulity.

Why should one care whether or not a movie features smoking? smoking is repulsive and pathetic.
Did you see Atomic Blonde? just..constant..every...scene.

No, I have not. I don’t like smoking in real life, but it has no impact on me whatsoever if it’s just shown in a film.

But is there as much as in Ghostbusters? Coincidentally featuring a character that shares their name with the OP!

Smoking is not illegal. Just like a million other dangerous things. Maybe skydiving should be banned from Marvel films, too. Or maybe they need to relax, keep shit in perspective, and just worry about making good movies. Smoking has no influence on whether a movie is good or not, so don't worry if they don't want to feature it. It's really not impacting the creative process at all. Plus, skydiving is not exactly something kids can get away with behind their parents' backs.

So ban it? You liberals are weird. So republicans are for lung cancer? Now that's weird. So many people die in these movies, that there's not even a number for it. As Thanos puts it, half of the universe. But seeing someone smoke a cigarette, THAT's where you people draw the line? Why are you people so soft?

So ban it? You liberals are weird. I didn't say ban it. I just don't see the purpose... other than tobacco companies paying film producers to feature smoking, which definitely used to and may still be a thing... It doesn't make characters better or more interesting to me, it just makes them seem lame.

It's pretty soft to be concerned about the lack of smoking in a movie where smoking literally plays no role. Why does that hurt you so?

My gut reaction to seeing anybody smoke is "oh, so they stink then". Which is odd, because I don't have a sense of smell so I have no idea what cigarettes smell like. I've just learned over the years that "cigarettes = stinky", from other people saying it.
But yeah, it means cigarettes never come off as "cool" to me in movies. Seeing somebody light up just instantly breaks me out of the movie and makes me wonder stuff like whether the actor likes smelling bad or something. Or whether they're smoking because they have some deep-seated unconscious suicide tendency.
I'm perfectly fine with smoking being left out of movies, if only for that reason.

Starting to think they missed an opportunity to have Thanos light up a smoke at the end of Infinity War right before the credits. Just to really drive home the evil, smoking is wrong.

Good point, I really like the film but the presentation of the war felt a little too stylized and fantastical in the more 'grounded' areas.

These movies are loaded with violence, you idiot. If kids can be brainwashed into smoking simply by seeing someone in a movie do it, there's a hell of a lot worse they could learn.
