Okay.......that was all a load of bollocks. Please don't tell me you think that legit? Basically, if you try to make a serious point in only your knickers, everyone will just look at the boobs then move on.

Well, they know that getting naked will get men's attention. Their mistake is thinking that this will also draw men's attention to why they're getting naked, but guys couldn't care less so long as they get to see them titties. Speaking for myself (and lots of people with me), whenever I see an article about naked protests, I click on it to see if there's something nice to look at. If I even read the article itself (and that's not a given), then it is just as quickly forgotten - because I clicked on the article for one thing and one thing only. So these protests are good for getting attention, but bad for getting attention to their cause. But by all means, keep protesting. I don't mind.

Ok. So, the question was "Why do some women think getting naked to protest either makes people take their point seriously or lends them credibility? Well, I don't think it is done either to get people to take a point more seriously, or lend it more credibility. I think a main reason is to bring more attention to a cause. Ie maybe it gets in the paper with them nude, and not at all clothed. Maybe men aren't the next target. Maybe females identify more with people willing to bare themselves in public? Who knows. They seem to do it a lot over animals, in your examples. Removing clothes tends to reduce some of our separation from animals, and could be used as an attempt to help us identify with them more, as we are just animals after all. Maybe that is trying to get people to take the point more seriously, now that i think about it. Those would be my thoughts. I certainly don't agree " everyone will just look at the boobs then move on.". That sounds a bit teenage boy to me. There is hardcore internet porn for that

I think it's to get attention from people in order for them to listen about a cause or situation. It's like blowing a whistle, except that for women even blowing a whistle gets us no attention at times, but dropping clothing always turns heads... once the head is turned towards you, you can speak as to the reason why you dropped clothing.

Either makes people take their point seriously or lends them credibility? They don't. They think it garners media - and thus public - attention. And the fact that you're here talking about it demonstrates that they're right about that.

why do some men feel the need to control everything a woman does?
which is a much better question.

I don't even begin to understand protestors let alone women. I figure, not worth banging my head against a wall over.

They can do what they like, but in my not so humble opinion, it just makes them look like spoiled children, flashing their knickers to be naughty. I'm not going to take them seriously until they present as reasonable adults.

My usual reaction is a mental eyeroll.
