I have a copy of Untamed Heart. It was the movie which made me fall in love with Marisa Tomei. But I like the movie because it illustrates how sometimes we misjudge and dismiss people because we just don't know them. And sometimes love comes from the most unexpected places. All the time he and his baboon heart were right there under her nose.
There's a fragility to everything that unfolds on screen. It's such a heartfelt and poetic movie. In Minneapolis they found an ideal location.
Marisa Tomei auditioned for 'Five Corners' which I can't recommend highly enough. Tony Bill didn't forget and cast her in 'Untamed Heart'.

I just added Five Corners and The Comebacks to my Netflix queue. I'll be seeing them soon. Lately all my selections have been from people on this site. Thanks!

I'm confident you'll find 'Five Corners' interesting, it's a film I'd always go to bat for. I think 'The Comebacks' is more of an acquired taste (for trash which I have lol). Hope you enjoy the movies!

I've never found anyone else who has seen this gem. The whole film is on YouTube with closed captions. Three Seasons (1999) from little known director Tony Bui. It was the first American film made in Vietnam since the war. All the actors are Vietnamese except for Harvey Keitel. It won three Sundance awards that year for direction and cinematography. It features four stories of love, kindness, redemption and survival in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon).
In my opinion the most touching story is the cyclo-driver (bicycle taxi) who falls in love with a prostitute. She resists because she doesn't feel worthy of being loved. Her goal is for a westerner to marry her and take her away from poverty. He's persistent in his tender efforts to win her over.
A peasant girl gets a job on a lotus farm. The owner was once a handsome young man but is now a recluse because his body is deformed by leprosy. One day he hears her village song and recognizes it as his own. They become friends and she transcribes his poetry for him to be published after his death.
Keitel is a former Marine who fathered a daughter, but when the war ended, he abandoned her. When he returns and finds her working as an escort for survival, he realizes the pain and suffering his previous actions caused.
Woody is a 5 year-old orphan who sells trinkets on the street in order to survive.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)
My favorite adaptation of the classic stiry, with some great performances, sets amd costume design, and in particular a beautiful, melancholic score by Patrick Doyle
