1st wasn't great but had some sound direction and simplicity. I think this one has too many characters to account for, and the direction is pretty disorienting more times than not. Definitely some oogling on Roberts' part with his younger stars in the movie, there's a whole sequence that looks like an awful commercial promotion for living young, wild, and free . I will say that the last twenty minutes are probably the best part of the movie, and there is a moment that rivals Deep Blue Sea's SLJ death lol. But overall, I didn't have high hopes yet I was still underwhelmed.

Saw the trailer for it on YouTube yesterday, and it made me wonder about something.
Are there any movies these days that don't have CGI? It's like watching a damn cartoon. I don't mind if it's for a superhero movie because they're cartoony anyway, but the suspension of belief isn't there for me when I know I'm watching a CGI shark.

The sharks imo this time around look awful.

First one was a frustrating watch for me, I'll be skipping this.

It definitely got better once they got into the Caves. I felt the same when they were goofing off swimming. Like a soft drink commercial.
Given these are kiddos of famous actors I thought they did okay. I really dug the sound design.and underwater effects. The lost City was cool. The Sharks (to me) looked scary. As usual the score by TomandAndy was good.
They really milked the hell out of the ending... It got me cringing. So yeah. Not a masterpiece. But I enjoyed it. Hoping they don't make a 3rd... Where else could they take the franchise?

I hated the first one but the twist was admittedly a nice touch.

Terrible, cheap and it shows. Most of the time the cinematographer did not even know where to point the camera.
The "biggest star" they could afford was John Corbert , you know that guy from Sex and the City, 20 years ago?

47 METERS DOWN PART 2: UNCAGED is as boring as a Halloween pumpkin without a mouth (3 triangles? Big deal!), mostly because it takes place mainly underwater. Yes, the previous installment was also like that, except that the protagonists were trapped in a cage. The viewer knew exactly where they were at all times, and the makers had to rely on dialogue and psychological stress. Here, the main characters explore a dark sunken city. Things are barely visible when they're merely swimming around. When there's danger, the camera movements and the editing make it impossible for the audience to make things out. LISA & KATE in the 1st movie weren't the best-written characters, but I liked them enough to root for them. This sequel has more characters, but I didn't care about a single one of them. I get why there are scenes establishing that MIA & SASHA (the protagonists) don't want to be step-sisters, but why waste screentime on CATHERINE (a girl that goes to the same school)? That wasn't necessary. She's not even a realistic bully. She pushes MIA into a swimming pool, even though she comes off as the queen bee mean girl who only insults without getting her hands dirty. Plus, no reason is given as to why MIA is her target. She doesn't act or dress nerdy. Hell, she's arguably the prettiest student. Shouldn't she be the popular one? Because of all this, it takes around 30 minutes to get the plot moving. You can't do that when the total runtime is 89 minutes. 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
