This is why you never start a cinematic universe with numbskulls like Snyder or Nolan in charge. Nolan should not have been the producer of MoS and Snyder certainly shouldn't have directed it. Writing the new Superman who was supposed to be a possible start of a cinematic universe of their own needed to come from a place of love for the material, but they didn't do that. So they ended up with a film that under-performed at the box office and WB didn't know how to cope. So they just tossed everything including the kitchen sink into the sequel, creating an even bigger mess and then couldn't keep their hands off SS, hurting themselves further. Now Wonder Woman and Justice League are supposedly "fixable messes." I give up. The DCEU is dead to me.

Wonder if Snyder feels responsible for the DCEU falling apart? I doubt it. He's always been one of those people who believes the artist knows best and the unwashed masses don't know what they're talking about. |

He didn't seem right anyway. Stick with his Ape movies. WB really need to slow down and stop trying to force the project on talent and let the right choice come to them or let Affleck have final say on who directs.

The DCU is such a mess. It has scenes so bad they have names like Martha, Tornadocide, and Destruction Porn. MOS had so many bad moments, that BVS was apology for them, and in itself was far far worse. How bad is the dialogue? Why is Lois always completely useless and just shows up wherever they need her? Why are there so many moments wasted like Jimmy Olson and Superman's death? How many directors have dropped out now, 6? Will Ben leave the bat role completely? maybe. The absolutely abysmal reviews and reception. BVS came up over $300 million short of Civil War, and that's after it lost a game of chicken and moved it's opening date, and that is after it tried to act bold and chose the same date. It's so embarrassing. |

I'm not sure how the director of the Apes films didn't seem right. Those have been great examples of taking a somewhat outlandish concept and making them feel real. If he had done the entire DCU to this point it would be miles better IMO. |

I know I certainly never thought the DC brand would fail to put both their 2016 films in the Top 5 grossing films list of that year. Instead Disney dominated that list, 5 for 5. Ouch.

Dawn was certainly good and War does look like it will be just as entertaining. But really Matt Reeves built on what Rupert Wyett did to invigorate that franchise. He has done a fine job so far I just don't see a style that I think will work for Batman. But people also said that about Chrostopher Nolan back in 2004. I guess maybe it's his work on Cloverfield and Let me In that makes me question him as a choice of director. |

Well I'm of the opinion that DC just needs to release JL and start over afterwards with a coherent vision anyway.
I don't know how any comic book fan wants the current DCU to continue. It's a complete disaster.

It wouldn't surprise me if he backed out, but the report isn't that he WON'T do it. Just that talks have ceased for the moment. And the word is that this was a negotiating tactic to try and get Reeves more money.

I think whoever they get the chances are low this will turn out to be much now.
That said Ant-man did alright and that had problems too but that's an exception if anything.
