This was playing at AMC today as a "Final Cut" so took the opportunity to see it. Got to say I can see why it is seen as a classic. I'd give it an 8/10 myself, it did drag in parts for me though it was stunning visually. Seeing the napalm go off on a movie screen really was more impressive than at home. Is this seen as a great film by all?
Robert Duvall looks TALL. Always thought he was a shorty in his older years...

Is this your first time seeing the film? The likely part where it dragged for you is the French plantation scene. I think you'd find the theatrical cut more to your liking.

One of the greatest films of the past 50 years in my opinion. I actually like the redux, but the theatrical cut is a tighter film. I have yet to see the final cut.

Tbh, I didn't mind the French plantation scene. I found the perspective of the people there on the war and land ownership to be interesting. Mostly I found portions of the time on the riverboat to be what dragged, it started to feel a bit repetitive with the multiple surreal stops that they took.

One of the obviously and undeniably overrated bits of garbage ever made. Just a bunch of dull nonsense. Not even watchable without doing drugs or drinking booze. 1/10.
