Thanks, I needed a laugh. Mind melds from around the globe, OldAussie .. I was just going to reply with something along that line. I would like to read just which ones Vits considers to BE "classics". Never can have too many laughs these days. It's not about how I feel about these movies; I'm saying that most people consider a lot of these movies to be classics. That's partly why they're on this list.

I'm saying that most people consider a lot of these movies to be classics. A lot of people like / love a lot of crap movies … to say that "most people consider a lot of these movies to be classics" merely indicates to me that you and those "most people" seem to have zero idea of what makes a movie "a classic" and it's NOT the date it was made. IMI, a very few on the list are "potential" classics...ie, movies that will stand the test of time and still be watched years and years from now. BUT as it stands, this list of "most" memorable" is total nonsense . BTW ...several people laughed at the very idea that several of these movies would be seen by anyone as "classics " and you chose me to reply to … funny thing, that ! , Vits .

I didn't mean just moviegoers. Critics and film historians too. Also, most of these movies were recognized by different award organizations too. BTW ...several people laughed at the very idea that several of these movies would be seen by anyone as "classics " and you chose me to reply to … funny thing, that ! , Vits . I replied to you because you were the only one who @ me. Isn't that the idea?

I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I think LA LA LAND was filled with memorable moments. The “What Might Have Been” finale was gorgeous to behold.

did you mean this ? Still waiting on that ! You mean me specifically? That's not how it works. The status (classic film, cult film, etc...) is a fact, not a personal opinion. If you asked me which movies I like it would be a different topic.

Perhaps then, you Vits , can explain the continuing discussions and debates as to what constitutes a "classic" ? Wherein lies the fact of classicness ? The Disney Company, for instance, releases their new movies on DVD with words along the line of .. "the latest addition to the Disney Classic Collection". So … how's that work ?
I would like to read just which "classic films on the list" Vits considers it correct that they were given this designation. perhaps re-read this post. Vitsimdb2.freeforums.net/post/3172894

I would like to read just which "classic films on the list" vits considers it correct that they were given this designation. If it was up to me, I'd declare that movies shouldn't be called classics until after at least 10 years of their release. Less time feels too soon to me.

So you are not including yourself in the "most people" in your previous statement

Probable classics -
The Sixth Sense The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Possible classics -
The Dark Knight
....and that's about it. Most of the others will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
