Well the end of episode 3 was the most David Lynch thing in the show so far

Season 1. You can stream it for free if you have Amazon Prime so I decided I should finally check it out. Nice. You're in for a long strange ride, especially when you get to season 3. Make sure you check out the prequel film Fire Walk With Me, between seasons 2 and 3. Yes, there is almost more relevant info in the movie for season 3 than in the previous seasons.

I think Albert should have gotten more time to look over Laura's body but he wasn't diplomatic enough to make it happen

I don't know if Leo killed Laura. His name broke the bottle. Laura was doing cocaine and he's connected with drug dealers. And he can be extremely violent.

There's also the Mike and Bob from Cooper's dream. I don't know what's up with any of that. Weird they share the names of Laura's friends. I don't know if that means anything.

Finished Season 1 I don't know about that cliffhanger. Actually there were a lot. They must have known they were getting a second season at that point. I didn't like Cooper getting shot because I feel like he's going to come back. If he was going to die his death should have a lot more meaning. And I figure killing an FBI Agent would be the end of a person. I would think that's just one of those things you just don't do.
I'm still not sure Leo killed Laura. It might have happened because he shows when he gets mad he'll go that far. But there proof isn't there. And we still haven't learned about the dudes in Cooper's dreams.
I'm not sure what Hank is planning but he's going to lead Bobby down the wrong path for sure.
I'm not sure what happens to Josie because we don't know what happens to Catherine and Pete. I thought about if she married her husband for his cash and this episode made it clear she did. That's not a crime but obviously I didn't think she was out to murder people for cash. Well she's made a deal with The Devil and I don't see things ending well for her.
There's a lot of the other things that need to be resolved. Like I said they must have known there was going to be a season 2 because too many questions were left unanswered.

What was wrong with Matthew Lillard? He was incredible.
Not very uniquely, I loved the original series until the murder was solved. I didn't have a problem with the aimlessness of the second half of season 2 the first time I watched it, but on the rewatch leading up to The Return it really dragged. Graham and Zane were boring love interests, and James - already the least interesting character - got his own B plot all to himself. Meh.
I was frustrated by the cliffhanger it ended on and the fact that Lynch had the chance to make a movie but did a prequel instead of a sequel. I did like Fire Walk With Me more the second time (the opposite effect of Season 2), and the Missing Pieces helped.
Then there's The Return, which I'd call a mixed bag. There was some great stuff, like pretty much anything with Dale/Bob. But I think it was a mistake to have Lynch double up his original 9 episodes. Instead of twice the story, it was really just padded to hell with filler. And once again, I was frustrated by the cliffhanger in light of the original series taking 25 years to resolve itself. I like the mystery, but I want there to be an ending at some point...
And yeah, big Lynch fan.

They do set up a lot of mysteries and some will be answered. The second (much longer season) does slump a little in the second half as it tries to figure out were it wants to go, but it picks up once it starts working toward it’s endgame.

I’m not a fan of Matt Lillard in general, he always seems to overact in a sort of awkward way and some of his mannerisms get on my nerves. His “breakdown” scene in The Return took that to another level. Just didn’t work for me. Despite it easily being my favorite show, I admit it is flawed and a lot of that stems from the uncertain direction the latter part of Season 2 took. One of the reasons I think there’s an argument for Season 3 being superior overall. I didn’t mind most of the “padding” in Season 3, I actually wouldn’t have minded a little more, particularly in some of the earlier sequences, like the guy watching the glass box in NY and “real” Cooper in the lodge with The Fireman.

I think this season 3. dream logic. First two seasons made a bit more sense for me.
If I were to rewatch it. I.d leave out 3. But that.s just me.

Watching episode 4 of season 2 Is Catherine pretending to be dead? I think that's what going on since they can't find her body.
