So what does that mean? No more Disney Spider-man? Another reboot by Sony?

Guess Sony wants to ruin Spider-Man again. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

So what does that mean? No more Disney Spider-man? Another reboot by Sony? I don't think anyone knows for sure at this point. Technically I believe Sony can keep making Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland and the rest of the core group. They just can reference the world of the MCU.

I could care less. I haven't seen Far From Home, but Homecoming was awful. Also, Disney makes 875 Quintillion dollars a day, they can let Sony have a larger chunk of the profit.

LOL! Tom Rothman is still salty over the decimation of the XMU. We get it, fucker. Why throw away your reputation and the viability of your studio so recklessly?
(Metaphorically) Dead Executive Walking.

I suspect that I am going to get attacked for saying this below but I will anyway just in case I am incorrect.
There are a heck of a lot of Fans that actually like Tom Holland's Spider Man (I actually do as well) and The Worst Thing about it is the Fact that Nobody is going to do anything to stop it. I think that Fans should immediately (starting today, right now in fact) start a write-in campaign to SONY and DISNEY demanding that they keep Spider Man in the MCU. I think that if enough people do it then they will at the very least have to go back and re-think this decision. It's bad that they are taking Spider Man out of it but it's even worse (to me at least) for the Fans that like Spider Man to not do anything about it.

Everything from Jumanji 2 to the PS5 is now the target of an MCU fandom boycott. Sony is in for a world of hurt. This had to happen, the confrontation was inevitable.

Equal profits.

They also receive all the profits from the merchandise, in addition to being able to use the character in any other MCU film. If Sony went along with this deal, it would’ve ultimately been more beneficial for Disney than for them.

The own the film rights to the character, which happen to prop up their studio. THEY sold their merch rights when they were cash strapped. Disney had nothing to do with that. 50/50 is the very definition of equitable in a business deal. This is Tom Rothman being vindictive.

You seem to be overlooking the fact that Sony, like any corporation, wants to make as much money as possible. What reason would they have for agreeing to a deal that benefits a competitor more than it benefits them? I’m not arguing that Tom Rothman is an idiot, but Disney could’ve probably asked for a smaller share of the profit than 50%. Seriously, Disney asking for 50% of the profits from these films, in addition to getting to reap the full benefits of the merchandise, is like if I agreed to share an apartment with someone, but I had to be the one to pay the rent.

Sony ain't sh!t. Disney saved the SM character and now Sony like Amy Pascal and Tom Rothman, are letting their heads get too big for their shoulders.

It isn't that bad... Is it? It's more like I get to Airbnb your half of the apartment when you go away on vacation. That said, there was one good reason for them to make this work. Tom Rothman has just painted a target on Sony's collective corporate back. The fandom will not forgive and it won't forget. At this point, Disney and Marvel can fuck up. Sony can't miss once. If they fail, the sticker price for this is nothing less than the entire studio.
