Anyone who's a wrestling fan is a fan of his work. He was one of the top managers and minds of the 80's.

Anyone who's a wrestling fan is a fan of his work. He was one of the top managers and minds of the 80's. Caleb my friend, thats a slippery slope these days. He has infuriated and alienated even wrestlers now due to his remarks. I know he has that ongoing stuff with Kenny Omega and Sami Callihan. But his latest comments ruffled even MLW feathers to wash their hands of him. Apparently his twitter comments about one young lady thats a wrestler has divided alot of people.
Of course, looking at Cornette fans on twitter, its almost like a cult. You say one bad thing about Cornette, his little obsessed legion is coming for you.
Yes I do agree that Cornette's 80s work was great, even some 90s work. But he is stick in a different reality or world, as if the 80s is still around for him. But the best of him is far gone and now he is just how to provide negative light on modern day pro wrestling.

I gotta disagree. I may not care for his current attitude, but his past work speaks for itself, and as a manager, he's only rivaled by Bobby Heenan and Jimmy Hart. It's fine to not like the guy yet still be a fan of his work.

What did he say or who did he offend now?
For the most part I agree with his takes on current wrestling like the gimmick shit on the indies like Joey Ryan's penis or the hand grenade shit and recently somebody getting speared through a table by an invisible person. Corny hates that shit as do I.
However he can escalate and take things a bit too far.

Cornette - Jordynn Grace IncidentPreviously: Cornette - Starr IncidentYes, Cornette plays a good heel in Pro wrestling, outside of it...looks like he takes anything and everything personal. WE all know his hatred of Omega, AEW bro with sunglasses, Kylie Rae probably or his hate for Joey Ryan. Some of it, sure I can get why. But his legion of dedicated fans seem to treat his word like the gospel.

His archaic ideas about wrestling was good in the deep south. But none of the stuff he does seems to be success or fly anymore. Ran out of MLW, ROH and IMPACT. I dont know, maybe cornette should go back to running a territorial organization or just keep 60 percent of his comment to himself.

His type of heat is the type of heat that comes from treating wrestling like it's real, even to the point of yelling at the cameraman for getting too close while he's 'coaching' his team. It looks like he's being abusive to a cameraman for "eavesdropping" but eavesdropping on what? It's a predetermined match. What strategy could they be devising?
That's why he's cool. He's in the moment and takes it seriously, but in a less obvious way than say Bret Hart, whose seriousness comes through in a more virtuous way. Like him or hate him, he's worth his reputation as a polarizing figure.

AEW is cosplay wrestling and wrestlers should not be content calling themselves performance artists.

He seems to merge personal with professional. As poster said sure he likes it to be real. But cat is out of the bag at this point.i am guessing MLW wont use him anymore so he will be stuck to podcast. Is it really that necessary to go after people with disabilities? His personal feelings seem to mesh with professional. Slapping a dude in developmental crowd because he was not doing what you liked? Attacks on mentally ill wrestlers who do not fit your style or MO? He has gone off the deep end. Little odd for anyone to give him a past for attacking womens looks or mentally challenged peoples looks as if he is Aladdin.

That's why he was cool. The man just needs to sick back and home and enjoy instead of having a cardiac attack over some dude doing dumb stuff in the ring.

Forgot to say TheCat, he is taking polarizing figure to a new level. His moment was good from 1986 to 2002 maybe. Since then, its just been an old man descending into madness. Cornette's time was full of brilliant ideas but that is because his time didn't have internet around, but had plenty of overzealous fans.

He's probably a much older man since I last looked at him. My pretending to berate the cameraman example is from an event in 1993. I actually find it easy to believe he's descending into madness. That definitely sounds like the Jim Cornette I remember.

Jim Cornette has lost his old ass mind, hasnt he? Nope, Cornett'e being Cornette he's just using twitter and his podcast to rile up the idiots rather than a wrestling show on TBS or USA Network Big fan of his work as a manager, booker and podcaster, Cornette is hilarious and has some truly great insights into pro wrestling and simple ways people could improve the business if they took their heads out of their collective shitters, he is also a grouchy old prick, but outside of his hate for religion I don't find his attitude that bad in most things.
So whats he done that got your knickers in a twist? Actually say them instead of linking to some article on a pos wrestling site, what he do and why do you care?

Loved his work in the 80's and 90's and his stuff with Kayfabe Commentaries is entertaining, but outside of that I don't seek him out much anymore.
I used to love his podcast but it got old for me a long time ago, there is only so much ranting about the same subjects that I can listen to before it gets redundant and repetitive.
I agree with a lot of statements about modern wrestling but I take it far less seriously than he does.

I hate that crap too. And no he doesn’t think wrestling is supposed to be real or that the fans are going to believe it is. He wants it presented in a serious way and I completely agree.

If I hear one more time about how wrestling is “fun and entertainment and it’s supposed to make people smile” I am going to throw up. He has a podcast. He expresses his opinions which is what a podcast is for.

It’s a weird kind of phenomenon I’ve noticed about the current fans. I remember back in the 2001-2008 period the serious fan were turned off by the goofy gimmicks and comedy and the sports entertainment aspect and that is why ROH was marketed for the fan that didn’t want all the crap. Fast forward to now and the next generation of fans want the goofy and silly crap and they love the sports entertainment and just want to laugh like they’re watching some kind of sitcom. The kind of stuff that would get booed out of an ROH building in its early days. Probably in part due to the fact that they weren’t watching wrestling when it was presented in a serious way and they grew up with the silliness of the wwe and the backstage comedy skits they watched on tv so that’s what they’re accustomed to.
