They also supposedly say "supposebly". To this day I haven't heard anyone pronounce it in regular conversation. I have been told that it is mostly a regional thing. My Sister In-Law in NC says folks down there say it all the time.

When I hear a grown person say it, I always wonder how he or she made it through school: it sounds subliterate.

Here's one that I would have thought we'd heard the last of: "lie-berry" for library...and I work in one (i.e., a library).

And bottle. They say boddle. for some reason. How are you supposed to pronounce Jaguar? If you're American: JAG-wahr (to rhyme with BAG-bar). If you're British: JAG-you-ah (listen to "Jeepster" by T. Rex to get the sound of that one) If you're a Spanish speaker:

Every word in a foreign language you don`t speak or understand.
Also the word can be pronounce differently in different languages like Jaguar is pronounced differently in English and Norwegian.

I frequently hear people say "simular" instead of "similar."
And some people who should know better still say "nucular" in place of "nuclear."

Humans mispronounce a bunch of words. Animals are definitely better pronouncers.

Painstaking mispronounced as painn-staking, when it should be painzz-taking. I guess this one's harder to notice unless they say it slowly enough for one to spot the error.

And some people who should know better still say "nucular" in place of "nuclear." The "nucular/nuclear" one irritates me the most! My 'grammar police' tendencies are going to increase - fair warning, everyone! I am doing part-time proofreading for a local newspaper, and, wow, I have found some really bad, as in embarrassing, typos! To me, it is kind of like a treasure hunt, and when I find a bad one, I get to taunt the original writer of the copy!

Oh, oh, thought of another one! Jewelry... mispronounced joo-lah-ree, should be joo-el-ree. I hear it even in television shows, where one would think the writers or show-runners would catch it and insist on proper pronunciation.

Some mispronunciations are a matter of local dialects (Not to be confused with Lo-Cal (caliber) Daleks). One of the many mispronounced words that gets me, one of the local talk radio hosts says forward pronounced as foe-ward instead of for-ward. I can get over when it is pronounced for-word but the foe pronunciation drives me nuts N-V-T-S.
For many people it is the way they were taught how to say the words, or as I have said the local dialect.
Oh another thing that gets me is the pronouncing letters that are supposed to be silent like the "t" in "often" and that leads to the "e" or "i" debates "off-fen" (off-en?) vs "off-fin" (off-in?) or for those who pronounce the "t" "off-ten" vs "off-tin". Wait do you mean "often frequently or orphan someone who has lost their parents"? (Pirates of Penzance reference)
